A fire ritual in an outdoor temple-like hall. A kneeling priest in an orange-red dhoti and bare upper body leans over a large bronze bowl of flames, placing offerings near a silver tray of small silver vessels and lamps in the foreground. Beside him a woman in a red-orange sari with a rudraksha mala and a tilak on her forehead holds a silver kalasha-shaped vessel over the fire, extending her other hand. Behind them a seated crowd of devotees in saffron and orange robes watches, with a white table fan at left. This appears to be a homa/yagna with offerings.2017-10-08October 08 20172017-10-08Smoky ritual scene at a homa or yagna fire. A man in an orange-red dhoti and shawl, wearing a patterned headwrap and a long beaded mala with a large gold pendant, kneels at a flaming fire-altar and reaches toward it with his right arm. Beside him a woman in a rust-brown sari with a long white beaded necklace and a bindi sits near a large dark bronze bowl with flames, holding a ladle. In front of them lie silver ritual vessels, a small bronze figure, a brass lamp, and offerings. Behind, several onlookers stand and sit, including a woman in a blue sari and a man in white. A purple and blue ribbon-patterned banner with a gold emblem hangs on a pole at the back, and a silver-toned seat is partly visible at right.2017-10-08January 05 20142014-01-05Outdoor fire ritual on a silver-and-gold ornate platform decorated with flower garlands, a silver peacock-like figure and a carved silver canopy. A long-haired figure with very long dark braided hair, wearing a rust-red robe with a leopard-print waist cloth and white ash bands on the arms, sits facing a bronze fire pit where a flame burns. Beside him a younger man in a white dhoti with a gold border, rudraksha mala and ash-marked body tends the fire with his hands. Brass and silver ritual vessels sit in the foreground. A large crowd of devotees, many women in colourful headscarves, watches from behind the platform, and a red temple roof is visible in the background.2017-12-12A fire ritual in an indoor hall: a fire burns on a low brick-like platform in front of seated devotees. A man in a red-orange hooded shawl and a rudraksha-style bead garland holds a silver plate with a small vessel, while a bare-chested priest in an orange turban, gold-bordered orange dhoti and a beaded garland pours from a small brass vessel, with white ash marks on his arm. Brass bowls sit near the flame, and many people in white and light clothing sit in rows at left.
