Outdoor homa ceremony under a canopy at dusk. A large fire burns in a square fire pit on a striped mat, with flower offerings and a small oil lamp at its edge. A seated man on a golden throne with a flower garland, crowned and wearing a rudraksha-style necklace, is surrounded by a large group of young and adult men in saffron-orange robes and orange head cloths, many with hands raised or folded. On the left, a standing priest in orange robes and a flower garland attends the fire. The canopy above is striped in multicoloured fabric. Swamiji (probable): the seated figure on the throne has long swept-back hair, a crown, a rudraksha mala and a garland, and is presiding over the homa.2017-08-25August 25 20172017-08-25A photograph of an outdoor homa ceremony with a large fire burning in a square yellow-draped fire pit, surrounded by marigold garlands and flower petals. On the right, a seated man on a red cushioned throne under a gold-and-flower decorated canopy wears a white shawl, garland and dark head covering; the appearance is not clearly distinctive enough to confirm identity, so he is described as a seated figure. Behind him stand a group of young saffron-robed children and adults in orange turbans and saffron robes, with several people in white. On the left, a priest in orange robes and orange turban, garlanded, tends the fire. Striped multicoloured mats cover the ground and brass ritual vessels sit near the pit.2017-08-25August 25 20172017-08-25August 25 20172017-08-25Night-time homa at an outdoor ashram, with a large flaming fire pit built into a gold-coloured square platform in the foreground. Many devotees sit in rows behind it, most in saffron and orange robes with rudraksha malas, while others wear white. On the right a woman in a red sari with white flower garlands sits on a silver-framed chair, holding a tray of offerings near the fire. Brass pots and oil lamps sit on red rugs. A stone deity murti stands at centre-back beside a tall column, and an ornate ceremonial chair appears at top right. The crowd is large but partly obscured by darkness.2014-10-27A photograph of a Ganesha homa at an open-sided pavilion, with a large fire burning on a striped cloth in the foreground. A seated figure on a red cushioned throne with gold trim, wearing a garland, rudraksha-style necklace and an ornate headpiece, sits to the right facing the fire. Behind the fire, a row of saffron-robed sannyasis and young disciples with orange headwraps stand with hands folded, and a few men in white dhotis stand among them. At the left, a barebacked priest in orange cloth stands before a large Ganesha deity murti draped with flower garlands and gold jewellery, with brass pots and an oil lamp nearby. Marigold garlands decorate the scene.2017-08-25Outdoor ceremony under a tarpaulin canopy with a large fire pit in the foreground, flames rising from a homa. A seated man on a gilded throne with red cushions, wearing a garland of marigolds and a gold-toned necklace, watches the scene. A priest in white dhoti with bare chest, gold-bordered cloth, and tilaka pours a liquid from a silver vessel into the fire while another priest in saffron-orange robes with a gold-bordered shawl and a light cloth stands nearby holding a small silver plate. Devotees in saffron and white kneel with palms joined in front of a red velvet armchair with gold trim. Behind them, a shrine with a deity murti sits under a golden arch, with palm trees, a red compound wall and a parked silver SUV.
