December 07 20162016-12-07January 05 20182018-01-05A close photograph of a sacred fire burning in a dark fire pit, with tall orange flames rising from a bed of glowing embers and charred wood. Behind the fire, a seated person wearing a pale cream-white robe and a reddish-brown shawl or wrap sits cross-legged, with a rudraksha-style mala visible at the right edge. Thin dry grass stalks lie around the fire pit. The setting appears to be an evening homa or yagna fire ritual. Only partial body parts are visible, and the person's face is not shown.2009-11-19April 14 20182018-04-14October 15 20132013-10-15A photograph of a fire ritual at night. A bare-chested priest in white dhoti sits cross-legged before a large flame rising from a fire pit built of wooden blocks, offering into the fire with a small vessel in his hand. A second figure in the foreground, wearing a yellow-green cloth draped over the shoulder, sits with back to the camera facing the fire. Brass vessels, a kalasha-style pot, and baskets of yellow marigold garlands are arranged around the fire, along with red flower offerings on the wooden blocks and a small oil lamp at the lower left. Behind the flames, a seated person in white clothing with a light-coloured shawl sits cross-legged; a red-brown hand holds a dark prayer bead mala at the right edge. The orange flames and glowing embers are the central focus against the dark background.2009-11-19A night homa ritual at an open-air ashram ground beside a square brick-and-stone fire pit with large flames rising from it. A woman in a white sari with a white head wrap and beaded necklaces leans over the fire, while a man in white dhoti and shawl with gold-coloured necklaces holds a brass vessel and pours offerings into the blaze. Another man in white clothes with a necklace stands at right. Behind them, a row of seated devotees in white and saffron fills the background, a round carved wooden or stone object stands near the fire, and a brass oil lamp and flower garland sit on the platform at right, with a string of leaf festoons overhead.2010-10-16 +1 copiesNovember 17 20092009-11-17 +1 copiesApril 14 20182018-04-14
