November `4 2015 +2 copiesNovember 25 20152015-11-25Night procession on a dirt road beside a red brick wall. A group of about ten men play drums and wind instruments. Several wear white dhotis with gold borders and bare upper bodies, with rudraksha malas and red armbands. Others wear saffron-orange cloth wrapped at the waist and draped over the body. One player blows a long brass horn, and others beat large frame drums with sticks and hand-held drums. The setting is dim, lit by ambient light, and the scene suggests a temple-style drumming procession.2015-11-15A group of young men in traditional temple-musician attire performs outdoors on a dirt ground with palm trees and trees behind them. Several wear orange dhotis with gold borders and others wear white dhotis with gold borders; they have rudraksha malas and sacred ash marks on their foreheads. Some play large decorated drums with red fabric covers, others play long curved horns, and one plays a small hand drum. A man in white stands at the left edge in the background, and a yellow metal frame structure is visible on the right. The scene appears to be a drum and horn ensemble performing near an ashram setting in the early evening.2015-08-31July 19 20162016-07-19Night photograph of a courtyard where five young drummers perform a percussion procession. Four bare-chested drummers in saffron-orange dhotis with gold-bordered hems play round drums with pink sticks, wearing rudraksha malas, white forehead markings and turbans or hair swept back. One drummer in white dhoti stands among them, and a fifth drummer wearing a silver-coloured drum is on the right edge. Behind them, two men in orange and cream clothing stand with hands folded near a red pillar, with a hanging decorative cloth and flowering plumeria trees in the background.2016-10-21November 13 20152015-11-13August 12 20162016-08-12June 07 20162016-06-07A band of musicians performs outdoors on a paved courtyard beneath coconut palms and flowering shrubs. Seven men in saffron-orange dhotis with gold borders play drums and a long brass horn. The man in front on the right blows a brass trumpet, wearing rudraksha malas and an orange cloth across his chest. Others beside him play frame drums and one in the rear wears a white dhoti with gold border. Several have tilak marks on their foreheads and bare feet. Dry leaves lie on the stone pavement and a small green-roofed building stands behind them.2016-08-12A procession of devotees moves along a paved path in front of green bamboo and shrubs. In the centre, a young drummer in white dhoti with gold border and tilak on forehead plays a silver drum, with a red cloth draped over it. Beside him another drummer in white plays a drum, and on the right boys in saffron-orange dhotis with rudraksha malas play drums. Women in orange and red saris carry brass kalasha pots and flower arrangements, and saffron banners with embroidered emblems are raised behind them.2016-07-19August 31 20152015-08-31
