October 01 20072007-10-01October 01 20072007-10-01A photograph in a home shrine room. A man with long swept-back dark hair, wearing a white garment with an orange shawl and a rudraksha mala, sits cross-legged on the floor and holds out a brass plate of flowers and fruit. A second man in a white shirt bends forward with his head lowered to receive it. Before them stands a framed portrait on an ornate chair-like seat, with a red cushion, flowers and fruit arranged on the floor, a small oil lamp burning at the left edge, and a shelf of deity figurines in the background. The seated man matches the probable Swamiji cues of swept-back hair, orange shawl and rudraksha mala, and is presenting the offering in a puja-type ritual, so this is marked probable. Two physical people are visible.2007-10-01A photograph of a dimly lit indoor ritual space with a draped, patterned fabric backdrop in red, gold and teal. On the right, an orange-draped altar holds a pink garland over a framed image, with a tray of fruit and small sweets in front. A woman in a white sari lies prone on a white sheet with her head resting near the altar, while several seated devotees, including a person in white with an orange sash, watch from the foreground. Others stand in the background among flower decorations and a small oil lamp.2005-05-25A small shrine corner in a room with a framed portrait of a deity or saint decorated with a garland and marigold strands. A man in a maroon shirt and yellow dhoti bends forward to offer something on a tray near the shrine, while a woman in an orange top sits on the floor at the lower left beside brass items and puja vessels. Women in pink, green and teal salwar kameez stand at the right, watching. A glass cabinet with small idols sits at the upper left. The scene suggests a home puja or aarti, with a framed portrait on the shrine and no clearly identifiable a person visible.2007-10-01A photograph of a ritual puja in a whitewashed room. A man in white dhoti and shirt, with a rudraksha mala, sits cross-legged and holds up a lit oil lamp toward a framed portrait of a seated, long-haired saint in saffron robes beneath a banyan tree. The portrait is garlanded with white, yellow and red flowers and labelled in print. Two devotees sit beside him with palms pressed together, and a bowl of yellow flower petals lies nearby. Brass lamps, a small silver Ganesha figure, a brass pot, fruit and bananas are arranged on the floor-cloth in front of a large mound of marigolds and rose petals. A smaller framed image of a saffron-clad figure hangs on the wall above, and window bars are at left.2006-04-08Overhead view of an outdoor puja at dusk on bare ground. Devotees crowd around a row of offering trays heaped with bananas, oranges, coconuts, pink and white flower petals and betel leaves. A man in a white dhoti and an orange-yellow shawl kneels at centre-right, holding a tray of flowers and placing offerings. A woman in white with a gold necklace bends forward beside him. Other men in white and a bare-chested man stand behind, with women in saris and a small child in a blue top among them. Oil lamps flicker at the lower edge. Wooden poles frame the left side.2006-10-09Kailasa Paramparagatha Arunagiri Yogishwara Adi Arunachala Sarvajnapeetha Samrajyam2006 - healing puja and meditation centers in Namakkal and HosurApril 08 20062006-04-08 +1 copiesA person in white clothes bends forward to place flowers at a shrine. The portrait sits on a green cloth-draped platform surrounded by fruit offerings, a kalasha-style brass vessel, and lit oil lamps. The man on the left wears white dhoti-style clothing with a blue lanyard and presses his palms together; the man beside him wears a saffron robe and folded hands. A portrait labelled with a caption is printed on the frame's image. Items on the white cloth include apples, oranges, bananas, and a plate of offerings.
