Outdoor evening scene at a stone-walled ghat or courtyard where a man in a plain white kurta with a rudraksha mala feeds green leaves to black and tan cows. Behind him, women in saffron and orange saris stand near the wall, one holding leafy bundles, and several men in white and saffron clothing stand further back. A woman at left wears an orange sari. The setting appears to be a feeding or cow-worship ritual, with greenery offered by hand.

A photograph of a cattle worship ritual outdoors in a dusty courtyard with tiled-roof buildings behind. A black-and-white cow wearing a yellow marigold garland and an orange cloth stands at left. A man in an ivory-cream dhoti and shawl holds a brass plate of offerings and reaches toward the cow. Beside him a bearded man in white dhoti and shirt with gold border touches the cow, and several men in white clothes, one in orange-saffron cloth at right, stand with folded hands. Several people in white garments stand by, some with hands joined in namaste.

A photograph of a ceremonial cow worship scene at an outdoor temple-style stage. A black-and-white cow with a rope halter is draped with an orange and gold silk cloth and a red-and-gold bordered cloth. A woman in a white sari with green and pink borders holds the halter and a man in white shirt and dhoti stands behind the cow, handling the red cloth. Brass plates with yellow flower offerings sit on the ground. In the background a standing figure in orange robes holds a staff, and a large banner shows a smiling saint in orange. Seated and standing devotees watch from the steps. Readable banner text is the copyright line, which is excluded.

A photograph of a ritual scene with a black-and-white cow and a small calf draped in red and gold silk cloths with golden borders. A woman in a white sari with an orange-red shawl holds the cow's rope halter and smiles. A woman in an orange-red sari stands at left beside a young girl with braided hair, and several men in white dhotis and shawls, plus women in saris, stand in a row behind against an orange wall. The setting suggests a gau puja style ceremony, though no specific ritual is clearly labelled.

Behind the cow, a standing woman in a leopard-print top and a shaved-headed man in white are visible, with a lit oil lamp, brass vessels and stacked items on a stone platform. A group of smiling people in white, cream and casual clothes stands on the right and in the background, several with hands pressed together. The setting is an open courtyard with an orange wall. The woman in the foreground is facing the cow, and the scene is a public devotional moment.

Night outdoor ritual at Mattu Pongal celebrations. A cow with a brown coat, garlanded horns and yellow and white flower decorations stands on a sand-coloured platform while a white-clad older man holds its head. Behind them, devotees in saffron and orange robes with rudraksha malas stand with hands joined and some carry brass trays with offerings. On the right, a bare-chested man in brown cloth wears a long white flower garland and has long dark hair, with an ornamented figure beside him in an orange robe and white head cloth. A striped mat covers the ground and a crowd stands behind in the dark.

Night-time photograph of a Mattu Pongal ritual at an outdoor ashram setting with a striped mat on the ground. A brown cow with garlands of yellow and white flowers and a red-marked forehead stands at centre beside a small calf. Several young men in saffron-orange robes and rudraksha malas hold brass plates with flowers, fruit and offerings, and one bearded man in saffron stands prominently holding a plate with a flame. Behind them a crowd of devotees in white dhotis and saffron cloth press their palms together in namaskar. A woman with long braided hair wearing a pink-and-white flower garland faces away in the foreground.

Devotees sit on a floor in a hall during a ritual. In the foreground, a man in a white dhoti with a gold-bordered shawl and a long rudraksha mala holds a brass bell in his right hand and a brass oil lamp in his left, with white vibhuti marks on his forehead and arms. Behind him, a man in a saffron-orange shawl and rudraksha mala sits with a small brass lamp or incense vessel near his hands. Further left, a woman in orange sits beside him, and other lamp-holding devotees in white and orange appear in the background. A gold and red throne-like chair sits behind them, with warm lamplight on the scene. The ritual appears to be an aarti with oil lamps.
