A large seated crowd of young women fills a hall at a convention, sitting closely on the floor in rows that extend back into the distance. Most wear saris or salwar kameez in varied colours including yellow, green, red, orange, blue, maroon and purple, and many have hair pulled back and wear earrings, bangles and thin necklaces. Several wear glasses, and a few hold their hands near their faces while listening attentively. Plastic water bottles sit among the rows.
