A photograph of two men seated on a red-painted platform in a plain room with white walls. On the left, a man in an orange saffron robe with a bare upper body and a red forehead mark sits cross-legged on a white cushion, holding up a colourful beaded garland with a silver ornament. On the right, a kneeling man in a white dhoti-style garment and an orange shawl reaches toward the garland. Behind them hang an orange and yellow striped cloth and a row of brass kalasha pots with hanging ropes, with steel containers on the right. A white sack with printed Tamil lettering sits in the foreground. The scene suggests a receiving of gifts or offerings.2008-02-10A photograph inside a plain whitewashed hall with a red-painted raised platform. A bare-chested-looking seated man in saffron-orange cloth sits cross-legged on a white cushion, holding an open book and reading, with a bowl of flowers and garlands beside him. A second man kneels on the floor in a white dhoti-style garment with an orange shawl, reaching toward the platform. Behind them hang rows of brass kalasha pots and steel-lidded containers, and a red-and-yellow striped cloth hangs on the wall. A woven mat and a box with a plastic bag sit on the floor. Printed copyright text and a caption appear in the corner.2008-02-10September 17 20102010-09-17Outdoor scene on a dirt ground at a yatra gathering. A young man in saffron-orange dhoti and a saffron shawl sits cross-legged on a white-covered wooden bench or cot, one bare foot visible, with a red-and-white checked cloth draped over his shoulder. Beside him, a second young man in white kurta and white dhoti with an orange shawl kneels on a woven striped mat, holding a folded white sheet of paper and speaking toward the seated man. A white towel and an orange cloth lie on the bench, and a bundle wrapped in cloth rests at the lower left. Behind them, several people in white and orange garments stand in the background, and a green potted plant is visible. The seated man does not clearly match the appearance cues required for a person candidate.December 31 20082008-12-31A photograph of an indoor ritual on a bare white-walled floor. A figure with long dark hair, wearing an orange robe and seated on a white-draped cushioned seat, extends his hands to receive a mala. In front of him a kneeling devotee in white kurta and an orange shawl, with a rudraksha mala around his neck, bows his head with cupped hands. A red and white patterned rug and woven mat lie on the floor. Behind them, a standing man in a white kurta and yellow shawl stands with folded arms, and another man in white dhoti and orange shawl holds a mala aloft. The seated figure has long swept-back hair, orange robes and a rudraksha mala, which fits the Swamiji (probable) appearance cues, so this is an appearance-based label only.2008-09-30A seated figure in long saffron-orange robes and a long swept-back dark hair sits on a white-draped low seat, reaching forward to take an object from a kneeling devotee. The devotee wears white clothes with a yellow shawl and a rudraksha mala, kneeling on a red patterned rug over woven mats. Behind them, standing attendants in saffron robes and white dhoti hold malas, and an orange-clad man stands near the right edge. The setting is a plain white-walled hall with a white pillow on the seat.2008-09-30August 17 20062006-08-17Indoor ritual scene in an ashram hall. A man in orange-saffron robes with long swept-back hair sits on a red quilted cushion atop a white cloth, his bare feet on a leopard-print mat, while a man in white dhoti and shirt kneels before him holding yellow envelopes. Behind them, another saffron-robed monk stands and holding yellow envelopes stands near the carved stone shrine with brass lamps. Other people in saffron and white sit against the wall. The seated figure shows distinctive visible cues (long hair, saffron robe) so the appearance is a probable match to the page subject, though this is an appearance-based label only; he is seated in a position of honour receiving an offering.2008-02-12A photograph of a monastic training setting inside a hall with wooden furniture and a carved wooden shrine in the background. A young man with long, swept-back dark hair, bare-shouldered and wrapped in orange saffron cloth, sits on a white-draped platform and holds a small object near a brass plate. A kneeling man in white ritual clothing and a white shirt, barefoot, with a thread across his chest, is bent forward at his feet, with bundled bamboo sticks and a reddish cloth on the floor. Behind them, other people in orange and white robes handle a large pile of orange cloth.2006-08-17September 30 20082008-09-30August 11 20092009-08-11
