A buffet table covered with a teal cloth holds steel pots of food: a dark stew with potato chunks and greens in the foreground, a yellow-green dal with a ladle, a pot of white steamed rice with a wooden spoon, and a bowl of papadums. A large green plastic water jug with a dispenser pump stands behind, beside stacks of paper cups. A woven round placemat sits under the stew. A potted leafy plant and curtained window frame the right side. She holds a steel bowl over a large steel pot of dark stew, with a ladle resting in it. Nearby are pots of rice and dal, a steel tray with small bowls of vegetable curry, papadums and dal, a stack of paper plates, cups and a large green water jug. At left, a bronze statue of a seated animal with red and gold adornments and a partially visible green-and-gold garment are beside a framed picture on the wall. Leafy plants and curtains are behind the table.2024-02-08A photograph of an older woman with glasses and a dark jacket with green stripes, standing at a serving counter in an indoor room with wood flooring. She holds a white plate of rice, lentils and a small bowl of sauce, while a steel serving tray in front of her holds yellow dal, green vegetable curry and other dishes. Behind the counter are a rice cooker, a large pot and a bowl of rice. Stainless steel bowls hold South Indian style dishes: a vegetable curry with spinach and a creamy sauce, a mixed vegetable stew, rice with lentils and red chillies, a tomato-based vegetable sambar, and a bowl of white idli cakes. A small mound of plain white rice sits on a brass plate, and a copper tumbler stands nearby. Behind the food, a gold-brocade-covered table holds a brass kalasha, a pearl garland, flowers and betel leaves, and a red and gold patterned cloth hangs at right. A bare arm with a red thread is visible at the top edge, placing or adjusting an item. No people are shown in full. The food offering is consistent with a food-offering ritual.2022-05-13 +1 copiesA photograph of a serving line for a communal meal in an indoor room with beige walls, a drop ceiling and an exit sign.
