Outdoor ritual scene at a temple-like shrine with smoke rising. A young man in a maroon-red robe with a rudraksha mala bends forward over a fire or lamp, hands extended toward the flame at a stone platform. Beside him, a figure in saffron-orange robes with a dark rudraksha mala stands near brass oil lamps, a brass vessel and a small kalasha-style bowl. Behind them, colourful deity murtis of lions and multi-headed cobra forms and painted statuary decorate a shrine ledge. Another orange-robed attendant stands at the right edge, with a microphone on a stand in the centre.2014-08-24A photograph of a temple ritual with incense smoke drifting across the frame. Behind the fire, about a dozen seated devotees in orange shawls and white clothes sit with hands folded. A gilded throne with a tiger-patterned cushion stands at left, and a camera tripod is visible. Pink flower garlands hang around his neck and rudraksha malas adorn his arms. Beside him, a younger attendant in an orange-red dhoti and white body markings holds up the silver plate of grain. Silver kalasha pots, flower garlands and a purple flower-decorated altar surround the scene, with a microphone stand visible behind. The man is shown as a priest performing the homa; any identification as a person is uncertain from appearance alone.2018-01-31December 29 20102010-12-29
