A woman in an orange sari with a rudraksha-style bead necklace stands centre, receiving something from a young man in white kurta with a yellow shawl who holds a silver tray or plate. Beside her a man in a beige shirt and trousers watches. Behind them, several people in white and orange robes with yellow shawls walk along the path, and a cameraman with a video camera is at the left edge. Two small children in the foreground, one in a red top, look on. A man with long dark hair, wearing an orange-saffron dhoti and upper cloth with a long rudraksha mala, walks barefoot at the centre-right, with distinctive long swept hair and saffron clothing. Around them, a group of about twenty people stands and walks in loose formation: a man in white shirt and trousers, girls in casual dress, and a man in white dhoti with gold-trimmed border holding a tablet-like device at right. Many people wear beaded necklaces and walk barefoot. A sense of an organized outdoor walk or planting site.2012-04-02A photograph of a large outdoor work site on a dry, excavated slope with bare earth, scattered stones and a low fence with a grassy field behind. Many people in white and light-coloured clothing, including men in white shirts and trousers and women in saris and salwar in pink, orange, yellow and purple, are spread across the trenches. In the foreground a man in a light pink kurta and white dhoti stands on the mound holding a small object, while a man in a white shirt and grey trousers and a woman in a patterned top with white bottoms stand nearby. A concrete slab lies on the ground at lower left. No clearly identifiable a person is visible.2008-06-20May 19 20082008-05-19Outdoor ritual on grass beside a cluster of onlookers. A brass kalasha and a raised stone with a cobra-hooded carving are garlanded with marigolds, and a small plate of offerings sits in front. In the foreground a long tan table holds a large brass plate of white grains, a stainless steel pot with a lid, a brass tray of marigold and red flower petals, and a small bowl. A man in a white shirt with a long dark wavy hair and beaded necklace stirs or serves from the steel pot. Beside him a shaven-headed sadhu in saffron-orange robes with a rudraksha mala holds a tray and serves. Another shaven-headed man in orange wrap with a red-brown mala stands behind the table. Devotees in white and colourful clothes, including a woman in white with beaded necklace, watch from the left. The setting suggests a community annadan or prasadam distribution.2013-11-15
