"In 1989, this sacred hillock was where His Divine Holiness, Paramahamsa Nithyananda had his first enlightenment experience. It was a full moon day, he had a profound realisation of his own self in everything. He was 12 years old at the time. For the past 30 years His Divine Holiness has had right over it as that place was given to him. He was coronated as the owner of the property by his Guru (teacher) Mataji Kuppammal in 1981 when she built a temple for him.

Even though all the property documents favor His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda, the Tamilnadu State Government has been continuously attempting to confiscate this land through illegal, inhumane and violent ways. Brutal mob lynching, sexual assault and inhumane manhandling and physical abuse were brought upon the ASMT monks staying there, in order to drive them away and take illegal possession of the sacred land."
