Description

Guru Gita is a sacred text which contains 182 verses, authored by the sage Ved Vyasa. It is a part of the larger Skanda Purana. It describes a conversation between Lord Shiva and His consort Devi, in which she asks him to explain the role of the Guru. Shiva describes the need for a Guru, ways of worshipping the Guru and methods and benefits of chanting the Guru Gita. It consists of mantras that describe the nature of the Guru, the Guru-disciple relationship and technique of meditation on the Guru.
