Yoga Pattabhishekam of The Avatar as the Successor of Arunachala Sampradaya

On this auspicious day, The Avatar's guru, Mathaji Vibhutananda Puri (also known as Mathaji Kuppammal), who was one among the group of enlightened beings to birth The Avatar, conducted the Yoga Pattabhishekam of The Avatar when He was the age 16 and officially adopted Him as her only disciple and successor in the Arunachala Sampradaya (lineage), conferring upon Him the title 'Brahmasukhi'. Mathaji Vibhutananda Puri along with her guru, Isakki Swamigal, both trained and initiated The Avatar in Vedanta & Tantra. Also present on this day to officially stand witness and bless the grand coronation was Yogiraj Yogananda Puri, the yogi who ensured the body of The Avatar was capable of manifesting the Supreme Consciousness by training His body with extreme yoga. By 1994, all of His gurus deemed Him ready to begin the divine purpose with which He came down and decided to officially crown Him the next successor in this unbroken lineage of enlightened beings which started from Paramashiva Himself.

Mathaji Vibhutananda Puri also organised to take the following series of pictures of HDH to commemorate this momentous occasion in the grand Purana (history) of The Avatar's life.

There is a conch and kamandalu (water pot) to the left of HDH and a wooden staff to His right, all of which were given by her as the traditional items that are handed over alongwith the official induction as successor into the lineage.

This photograph is of Mathaji Vibhutananda Puri, who is seated in the same place as The Avatar with the same conch, kamandalu, wooden staff, as the ones in the photo with The Avatar, which were passed on as an inheritance to her successor.

(1917 - 1991) This is a photograph of Isakki Swamigal, a great Yogi and Siddha (mystic expressing Superconscious powers) from Tiruvannamalai (The Avatar's birthplace). Isakki Swamigal lived with almost no food all his life. He was an Avadhuutaa. Avadhuuta is a person who lives with no food, water or clothes. He is the Guru of Mata Vibhutananda Puri, who in turn is the Guru of The Avatar. With him and Mata Vibhutananda Puri, The Avatar explored the great Hindu Science of Vedanta. There was a time in late 1970s and beginning of 1980s, when in the whole district, all hospitals where shut down. Everyone would go to him instead. He would just take mud from the sacred Hill Arunachala, put it in their nose, mouth and ears and tell them to go around the Hill twice ....And the disease would disappear! The local villagers recall that for 3 full years, day in and day out, he made a 'nara mala' – 'garland made of human beings' for Arunachala by sending people to go around the Hill! The whole day, he would heal and send people around the Hill. He stayed in samadhi (restful State of Oneness with the Cosmos) all the time. He was a Mahaan, a great Seer. He was a great tapasvi (one who does intense penance) and a great enlightened being. He would often perform the angapradakshiṇa of the Arunachala mountain (circumambulation of a sacred spot or a deity using the whole body, done by rolling the body on the ground).
