Title:

Physical and Physiological parameters

Researches:

The following physical and physiological parameters were evaluated on Day 0 and Day 18 of the Inner Awakening® program: 1. Height and weight and by inference BMI 2. Chest and waist circumference and by inference C/W ratio 3. Diastolic blood pressure with a mid-program review on hypertensives 4. Fasting blood sugar 5. Mid-program review on diabetics Study Design: An evaluation to study the effectiveness of intervention on Anthropometry Parameters and Clinical Variables. Statistical Methods: Descriptive statistical analysis has been carried out in the present study. Results on continuous measurements are presented on Mean SD (Min-Max) and results on categorical measurements are presented in Number (%). Significance is assessed at 5% level of significance. Student t test (two-tailed, dependent) has been used to find the significance of study parameters on continuous scale within each group. 95% Confidence Interval has been computed to find the significant features. Confidence Interval with lower limit greater than 50% is associated with statistical significance.

1. Student t test for paired comparisons Objective: To investigate the significance of the difference between single population means. No assumption is made about the population variances and di is the difference formed for each pair of observations. 2. Significant figures + Suggestive significance (p value: 0.05<p<0.10)

  • Moderately significant (p value: 0.01<p< 0.05)
    • Strongly significant (p value: p <0.01)

Statistical software: The Statistical software namely SAS 9.2, SPSS 15.0, Stata 10.1, MedCalc 9.0.1, Systat 12.0 and R environment version 2.11.1 were used for the analysis of the data and Microsoft Word and Excel have been used to generate graphs, tables, etc. The results are further validated by ongoing research done on subsequent batches of Inner Awakening® participants. a summary of the findings has been included here.
