Yoga Sutras Discourse: Do Not Let Your Mind Cheat You

Description:

From the works of Living Enlightened Master Paramahamsa Nithyananda. In this clip taken from Patanjali Yoga Sutras discourse 11 (Sutra 14), Swamiji expounds on the word "Dirgakalah" that Patanjali uses to describe the practice of a technique for a long time. Swamiji says that Patanjali does not use this word to cheat us. In fact, Patanjali knows the intricacies of the workings of the mind. Unless the mind knows and is convinced that the practitioner commits to doing a practice indefinitely, mind will continue to postpone and cheat. Swamiji sheds more light on this paradoxical truth giving an example from the life of Buddha. After 12 years of penance it is only when Buddha decides that he will sit forever to attain enlightenment, he dropped into the present moment and got enlightened at that very moment. Swamiji then goes on to shed more light on this paradox by describing the concepts of chronological versus psychological times.

Yoga Sutras: Danger of Practicing Techniques without Understanding

Description:

From the works of Living Enlightened Master Paramahamsa Nithyananda. In this clip taken from Patanjali Yoga Sutras discourse 11 (Sutra 14), Swamiji sheds more light on the paradox of the mind. He warns us about the dangers of practicing techniques without understanding. Even while enlightenment was the only priority for Buddha, it took him over 12 years to attain the truth. Only through understanding the truth of Dirgakalah as expounded by Patanjali, Buddha was able to instantly achieve enlightenment. As long as there is hope for change, the mind will continue to survive. Only when you take away the hope, mind will die and you will fall into the present moment. This is a paradoxical truth in that practice end when you decide you will practice forever!

Yoga Sutras Discourse: Decide to Unclutch® & Drop Your Mind Now

Description:

From the works of Living Enlightened Master Paramahamsa Nithyananda. In this clip taken from Patanjali Yoga Sutras discourse 11 (Sutra 14), Swamiji sheds more light on the deeper secrets about body and mind. Swamiji describes his very own experience of the process of psychological death where He used this very technique of Patanjali for enlightenment. When he sat at Manikarnika Ghat with reserve to sit there forever, the power which was resisting lost hold on His consciousness. That very moment the mind came back to the present moment. Your idea about the future plays a major role in your present actions. Swamiji then teaches us that the idea you have of your body and mind is either your best friend or your worst enemy. Happiness, joy, bliss are nothing but the ideas we have of our mind and body.
