Original Verse

उत्तानं शयनं कृत्वा पादौ मिलित्वा प्रसार्य नितंबं भूमौ स्पृष्ट्या हस्ताभ्यां कन्धरा बध्वा कुंभकं कृत्वा तिष्टेत् परिघासन भवति ॥२॥


Transliteration

uttānaṃ śayanaṃ kṛtvā pādau militvā prasārya nitaṃbaṃ bhūmau spṛṣṭyā hastābhyāṃ kandharā badhvā kuṃbhakaṃ kṛtvā tiṣṭet parighāsana bhavati ॥2॥

Translation

Lying supine extend both the feet united together and touching the ground with buttocks catch firmly the shoulder with two hands and remain with kumbhaka performed. This is called Parighasana.


Steps/Technique

1. Sit and extend the legs at 45 degrees. 2. Catch hold of the shoulders with the hands crossed overhead. 3. Hold the breath while holding the position.
