Prayer. Welcome. Today is the 15th day of the fast – the Chandra samayama. You need to end it after amavaasya which is tomorrow. Break the fast tomorrow by drinking orange juice & rice. Today’s subject is Enlightenment is beyond bliss! 142nd Patanjali Yoga Sutras, 3rd chapter 36th verse Satva purushayoho adhyanta asankeernayo pratyaya avisesha bhoga paraarthaat swartha samyamaat purusha jnanam! Vivekananda: enjoyment comes through non-discrimination of soul and satva which are totally different. this enjoyment is for the sake of soul. There is another state….gives the knowledge of the purusha Prabhavananda: power of enjoyment arises from a failure to discriminate between the aatman and satva guna….only for its own sake. By making samyama on the independence of the aatman one gains knowledge of the aataman. Satchitananda: the intellect & the purusha are totally diff…..cause of all experience and by samyama on the distinction knowledge of the .. Osho: the exp is the result of the inability to diff between satva and pure ….performing samyama on the self interest brings knowledge of the purusha separated from the knowledge of the others. It is more deeper & philosophical. Patanjali comes to one of the peak samyama. He gives samyama for enlightenment. Each day he is giving different techniques for different powers, today he is giving samyama directly to achieve enlightenment. I will finish the whole sutra in just 2 lines. Understand, the whole essence, the sacred secret in this sutra is whenever you go through any intense experience like a joy, suffering or peace or silence or awareness, just turn your awareness, your consciousness to who is going through this experience. That’s all. Ramana Maharshi finishes this whole subject in just one line. Just look who is experiencing, that’s all. I will now get into the philosophical theories. Patanjali is establishing some 5 theories in this sutra and then coming to the conclusion. The 1st truth, theory is – the joy you experience, the intellect which experiences the joy, pure consciousness & the stuff out of which joy is made – all 4 are independent things. First theory – please understand – the joy you experience. When I say joy, you can understand the joy, pain, fear, any experience you go through. The experience and the intellect which experiences the experience and the stuff out of which experience is made – these are very subtlest truths and the pure consciousness which is a witness on which all these experiences are made – all 4 are independent. One more thing I want to tell you, when I utter these theories if it clicks with you, accept it. if it does not, then you don’t need to remember or force yourself to believe this. Sometime a man may click with concept of soul but not concept of God. Some time man may click with concept of God and not the concept of the soul. I wanted you to know the concept of God, concept of soul all are truths. Only if you click with it, it can lead you to highest source. The concept itself is truth but it cannot lead you to the truth if it does not click with you. like how I tell you let you live long, let you be blissful, if you have connection with me, those words will become true for you. but if you are not connected, the words are not going to work on you. it is the click – the connection. Whether it is aapta pramaana or shaastra pramaana only when it clicks in you, it is going to become atma pramaana. Whether it is experience from the scriptures or experience of your Guru, only when it clicks in you, it will become your experience. Not otherwise. So apta pramaana, atma pramaana, shaastra pramaana all 3 will become reality only when you connect with it. Not otherwise. This is the 1st theory. I can give you some examples. There are some people who experience all experiences always in the head, only in the face. If you look little deep and do little samyama you will understand. There are some people who go through all experiences in the heart, some in the stomach, some for whom all experiences the feeling which you have in the thighs when you are sexually awakened. That is why Upanishad clearly declares the man who experiences all experiences in the face is a Brahmana! But this Upanishad is completely mis-interpreted. This Upanishad does not say you are a shudra if you are born to a shudra. It says if all your experience is based on just the thighs you are a shudra. Our vedic tradition always categorized human beings based on their quality. Unfortunately, similar quality people have formed their own groups for their own living and entertainment. For example, if you are connected to me, then you cannot go to parties! Because what people in the party talks does not interest you. what you talk does not interest them. all people with different mental set up each group they started staying together. Then slowly it became a community. Vedic Tradition classified humans based on their habits and attitude. If you are experiencing all experiences in your face then you are subtle and simple things are enough to awaken you. You are sensitive. You don’t need a gross experience that can awaken your thighs! You know the experiences how they differ. In vedic tradition, the community is clearly defined – if most of your experiences are in the intellect you are closer to satva – easy for you to attain enlightenment. If all your experiences are based on heart – vysya – vysya may receive but even when you are doing business while you are giving something the heart vibrates a certain experience. So vysya is supposed to be constantly giving – broad heart. Vysya will be successful if he can give more than what he receives or if he makes others believe he is giving more than what he is receiving. Next all exp based on stomach – kshatriya. He need to have a strong stomach and strong guts because he needs to be stomaching different experiences continuously. The fellow whose strongest experience in his life is only between his thighs is Shudra – nothing can be done. The word Shudra needs to be understood very clearly. It is not that you are born to somebody. NO. your birth does not decide community. Your mental set up & attitude decides your community. How you think, act, live that decides your community. If strongest experiences in your life is only between the thighs, you will never be able to separate you & the thighs. Experience, intellect which experiences the experience, stuff out of which the experience is made & your consciousness all 4 will be completely mixed. It cannot be separated at all. Very difficult. 2nd if all your experiences are based on your stomach – the experience and the intellect which experiences the experience can be separated but not the consciousness and stuff out of which the experience is made. That is why kshatriya is always ready to give up his life for what he believes. You don’t need to curse a kshatriya. He is foolish enuf to kill himself for foolish concepts and intellectual convictions he has. Experience in the heart – the vysya part, he can separate the experience and the stuff out of which the experience is made but not the intellect & the consciousness. That is why Vysya will always be stuff based, matter based. He will be ready to give up anything for his wealth. If a robber or burglar comes, he will die by being killed by the thief, but he will not let go off the wealth. Stuff based. He cannot separate the stuff! A brahmana can separate the experience and the intellect which perceives the experience and the stuff out of which experience is made but not the pure consciousness. That is why always a brahmana suffers with high ego – high ego. Kshatriya will die for what he believes, Shudra will die for no reason – he will not have any reason for death – his life also has no reason, his death also has no reason. Kshatriya will die for what he believes, conviction the intellectual understanding, vysya will die for the stuff, Brahmana will die for the word – because it is such a ego centric. When I use word like Brahmana, kshatriya, shudra, vysya I mean not the community by birth that we are practicing in Indian now. NO. it is based on the attitude and life. This system is practically dead now. Only a man who can separate all the 4 – experience, intellect which perceives the experience, the stuff out of which experience is made & the pure consciousness on which the whole drama is being played – if you can separate all the 4 by samyama, you will have enlightenment. It is a very subtle concept. I am putting it on record. You will be able to practice this only if you have practice this the prateebha samyama – the mirror samyama. 11 days if you continuously experience that you are mirroring everything that samyama will prepare you for the next ananda gandha samyama. If this ananda gandha samyama can be done for 5 days and then if you do today’s samyama for 3 days, I can assure you – you will have very strong satori. 11 days the…5 days…and 3 days this samyama – samyama on the pure consciousness separating all the 4 – experience, intellect which perceives the experience, stuff out of which experience is made & pure consciousness on which all this drama is happening. Actually your mind needs to be completely sensitive and highly aware. Some of the bhasyakaaras – commentators are saying even if a sound is created, your ears should become red – that high awareness you should have. I can say the moment I walk into the room, even with closed eyes you are able to feel my experience – my presence, you just know in the body – Swamiji is here the presence then you have become sensitive for this samyama. 11 days of prateebha & 5 days of ananda gandha samayama will make you that sensitive that this samyama will work for you directly. Without them, this will not work for you. when I say 11 days of prateebha samyama whole day whenever you remember try to do it, feel you are mirroring. that’s all. 5 days ananda gandha samyama and 3 days on this samyama. Samyama on experience & the pure consciousness. You will have a strong satori, you will have glimpse of enlightenment. Maybe if some of you are committed to enlightenment as life’s first priority you can practice this. actually you will understand the chemistry of experience how the stuff out of which all this made. That will lead you to pure restful awareness which is enlightenment. I cannot even guide you into this samyama because there is no concentration on any spot. You just need to sit & contemplate on how experience happens in you, how your intellect perceives that experience, how the stuff out of which experience is made is experienced by you and the pure inner space on which all this is happening. You need to do samyama strongly on this. but this samyama directly leads to enlightenment. Blessings!
