Prayer. Welcome. Today I will be continuing on deeper understandings on Mind over matter. 151ST Patanjali Yoga Sutras, 3rd chapter 45th verse - Sthoola swaroopa sookshma anvaya arthavathva samyamaat bhoota jayaha Basic sacred secret in this sutra is how to feel connected, conquer go beyond the 5 elements. Let me give you some basic understanding on feeling connection, falling in tune. 5 elements makes “the world”. Feeling connection with these. Let me describe. Once Ganesha and Subramanya both of them decided to have a challenge over each other to go around “the world” 3 times. Subramanya sat on his peacock crossed all the 3 world crossing the continents, crossing the oceans thrice. He came back and saw Ganesha who is a heavy guy on his vehicle a rat sitting in Kailash. Ganesha claimed that he won the game by going around Shiva & Parvathi 3 times. What else can be done with the rat? Finally Ganesha declares I won the game. I went out Shiva and Parvathi 3 times. Very beautifully Ganesha says you went around “your world”, I went around “my world”! you need to catch this truth. “the world” and “my world”. this is the sacred secret. “the world” is binary, logical, arithmetic, scientific, universal. “my world” is emotional based on faith, beliefs, experiences of individual perceptions, realization of individual indentity’s expression in its fullest form. “my world” is totally different from “the world”. when “my world” is completely in tune with “the world”, you are a jeevan mukta. When there is no conflict between “my world” and “the world”, please understand people who are always going around “the world” are caught in agitation, anger, stress, rajas. People go completely caught in “my world”, sometimes miss “the world”. here Ganesha was successful not because he was centered on “my world”, but he was completely centered in “my world” which was in tune with “the world”. Ganesha’s “my world” and “the world” are one and the same. His “my world” and “the world” has become a solid experience for him. Understand, Ganesha’s “my world” and “the world” has become a solid experience for Ganesha! I will give you a clear picture. How ordinarily people are caught between “my world” and “the world” and start preferring one in these two. When you start preferring “the world” over “my world”, your whole life ends in depression and you are drained in “my world”. when you start preferring “my world” to “the world”, sometimes you can lose yourself in fantasies and whims and fancies. “my world” should expand and grow and be completely in tune with “the world”. For Ganesh the “my world” is Shiva & Devi. Now Shiva & Devi are also “the world”. So Ganesha experienced “the world” as “my world”. Usually people who give preference for only “the world” become extraordinary materialists but end up in spiritual poverty, utter depression. Same way people who prefer only “my world”, sometimes end up in hallucination without falling in tune with “the world”. “the world” cannot be rejected as you think. Misunderstanding about “the world” should be rejected. For example, if fire is “the world”, your fears about fire should be rejected not fire itself – its existence cannot be denied! Maya is the illusory ideas which you carry about “the world” which are not in tune with “the world” itself. When you understand it rightly, you will get that “the world” is the same stuff with which “my world” is made. The fire, earth, water, air, space itself cannot be denied. Your wrong concept about it is Maya. But when your wrong concepts about it is removed, it loses the identity which you are thinking it is having. For example, the fire – you have fear about fire. That fear is called maya. But fire itself is not maya. When the fear is completely lost in you, when you are in tune, suddenly you realize what stuff which is base material in you, is base material for “the world” and you can be in tune with it, conquer it and go beyond it! Catch it if you can. It is one of the very, very, very subtlest truths. The discrepancy between the “my world” and “the world” in ideological level is conflict, practical level is poverty and failure, in the emotional level is depression, in the conscious level is illusion. In the story, Subramanya, Muruga goes around “the world”. As usual when you go around “the world”, you will get into an intense rajas. In that extraordinary rajas he claims the victory. But comes back to see that already somebody has won the game! We have a very beautiful story about Bharatha after whom Bharath is named. He suddenly felt he should conquer the whole world. he reaches the peaks of the Meru hill to establish his flag. When he goes there he sees already 10 million flags are there. He is shocked. Brahma appears and says oh my son do not think you are the only one who conquered “the world”, all of them claimed it is there in their period. In this period you have conquered. That’s all. Then Bharatha realized and he went to Tapas. In that tapas he became enlightened – how to be in tune with “the world” and “my world” – the balancing of “the world” and “my world” happened. If you don’t balance, it will be suppression and will lead to tsunami. The materialistic civil is conquering “the world” without balancing “my world” which is leading to all imbalances and natural calamities. Here, Muruga comes back after going around “the world” 3 times and sees Ganesha sitting contently radiating. That gives Muruga a click, initiation. He goes to Palani, becomes a Sadhu, leaves everything and does Tapas. Then he establishes himself in “my world”. when he is in tune with “the world” and “my world” in that tapas he become enlightened in Palani and starts radiating enlightenment! Subramanya when he sees just the success in “the world” is not the ultimate, you need to tune with “my world” and “the world”, then conquer then go beyond. Without being in tune any effort to conquer “the world” leads to great chaos in “the world” and “my world”. The restlessness in “my world”, results in natural calamities in “the world”. extraordinary restlessness in “my world” reflects as natural calamities in “the world”. understand, all civilizations which is suffering with extraordinary attention to “the world” without balancing “my world” are suffering with too much of natural calamities. Natural calamity means the whole civilization is too much about “the world”, the balancing of “my world” is not happening. History should be in tune with mythology, logic should be in tune with emotions, facts should be in tune with truth, binary should be in tune with zero! Understand the binary logic linear movement should be in tune with circular movement – logic based on zero. The Indian rishis were able to discover zero because they were able to understand the secrets of “the world” and “my world”. Only the person who can comprehend the secrets of “the world” and “my world”, can comprehend the power of zero. Zero cannot be mathematically understood. It is just a theory. If you want to experience zero, you need to make “the world” and “my world” in tune. Understand, tuning “my world” into “the world” is the samyama you are expected to do to fall in tune with the elements, fall in tune with the nature by Patanjali. I think this is a very sharp truth, very sharp concept. If you just understand this one story Ganesha going around and Subramanya going around, are you going around “the world” and “my world”, are centered around “my world” or “the world”. 2nd ask yourself is your “my world” really in tune with “the world?” Is your “my world” your experience of “the world?” and the concepts you carry about “my world” are they really your experiences? Not only shiva and devi are Ganesha’s “the world”, ganesha should also be experiencing it as “my world”. Not your your Guru should be “the world”, you should experience Guru as your “my world” too! You have won the game only when Guru is “the world” and you experience Guru as “the world” in your “my world”. Guru should become an experience in your “my world”. Like Ganesha if you have experienced Guru is “your world”, just by going around him you have gone around “the world”. You don’t need to experience the fire. You need to just experience his firing ☺ That is enough. You have won the game. You then have the fruit of knowledge, enlightenment! If you have fallen in tune means experienced “your world” which is “the world” is nothing but the master, then instead of going through great sadhanas and samyamas, directly you will have the effect. If you fall in tune with air-praana by meditating for years, you start levitating. But when your trust the feeling connection with the master happens, when he becomes “the world” of “your world”, you don’t need to fall into the praana of the whole cosmos, his praana is enough. You experience levitation! Understand, how to harvest all the seeds sown, grown, the crops created by an incarnation. When you are around an incarnation the only job in which you need to concentrate and aim is to realize “the world” and ““your world”” should be in tune. “The world” is in front of you. just make “your world” experience “the world” as “your world”! that’s all! Then whatever samyamas Patanjali is talking like Chandra Samyama – his right eye is equal to moon, surya samyama – his left eye is equal to sun. You don’t need the sun or moon, his right eye and left eye is enough! If his right eye falls on you, that’s all! The two huge traditions of sadhana – enlightenment path which are aatma vichara – self effort & atma saranagathi – self surrender boils down to this one truth. If you are not able to make “the world” when it appears in “your world”, you need to struggle going around “the world” in flight. You don’t know how much time it will take and whether you can come back without getting into accidents. The different ways to fall in tune and achieve enlightenment atma vichara and atma saranagathi – self effort and self surrender. When “the world” lands on planet earth, when “the world” lands on this world, don’t waste going around searching, spending your time and energy to be in tune with “the world”. it is waste of time. Just make “the world” which landed on this world as “my world”. you are done! This the most easiest thing to do. When “the world” landed on this world becomes “my world”, even if “the world” landed on this world leaves this world, the experience which happens in “my world” is mine! Only when the fire is being lighted you need help of “the world” which landed on this world. see to light a lamp only another lamp is required. After the lamp is lighted, the other lamp cannot take the light back. When the lamp is lighted, it becomes an independent intelligence! “the world” can neither be neglected nor “my world” can be neglected. The exact technique to fall in tune with “the world” as “my world” without the discrepancy or contradictions, conflicts is what Patanjali is describing in this samyama. I will describe the technique. But please understand you will not be able to master it easily. Better don’t try this. These are extraordinarily difficult and apart from that you need to be guided by a master directly. I am talking and sharing these techniques just to put it on record. First to do samyama on open sky, lie down under open sky, visualize you are a star in the open sky. Completely be with the sky. Experience it fully. Visualize the sky being a star as if a star is observing the sky. To do samyama on water, sit beside a river. Day in and day out be with the water. No other sound but the river sound should be heard till all your verbalization disappears, till you disappear into the water. Same way to do samyama on fire, sit next to fire till your verbalization disappears into fire. Each one of these samyamas can make you fall in tune with “the world” but with lot of effort, training and practice. Bu to fall in tune with “the world” landed on this world is the most easiest job. For that you know the technique, just relax and feel connected. I will continue some of the deeper secrets in this sutra in the next satsangs. Blessings!
