Original Verse:
"वायुं पुटाभ्यामथ धारयेच्चिरं प्रपूरितं योगिवरोऽनुरेच् सयेत् । प्राणानिलः स्यादिति शश्वदभ्यासतो जितः पूरककुम्भरेचकैः ॥२॥"
"विधाय पूर्व दृढमूलजालोऽयानं पुरोक्तं मुनिरस्ततन्द्रः । सद्रेचकोर्ध्वोर्ध्वचिरप्ररोधात् स्थानप्ररोधा दिति तं जयेज् ज्ञः ॥५॥"
Transliteration:
"vāyuṁ puṭābhyāmatha dhārayecciraṁ prapūritaṁ Yogivaro'nurec sayet |
prāṇānilaḥ syāditi śaśvadabhyāsato jitaḥ pūrakakumbharecakaiḥ ॥2 ॥"
"vidhāya pūrva dṛḍhamūlajālo'yānaṁ puroktaṁ munirastatandraḥ |
sadrecakordhvordhvaciraprarodhāt sthānaprarodhā diti taṁ jayej jñaḥ ॥5 ॥"
Translation:
Inhale through both the nostrils, retain the inhaled air for a long time and exhale. A continued practice brings control over prana through puraka, kumbhaka and recaka.
A muni should firmly apply mulabandha, jalandharabandha and uddiyanabandha he should diligently exhale very slowly and hold apana at the higher and higher point for a long time to gain control over it.
