Original Verse

निपीड्य सीविनीं सूक्ष्मां दक्षिणेतरगुल्फतः ॥ ८ ॥ वामं याम्येन गुल्फेन मुक्तासनमिदं भवेत् । मेढ्रादुपरि निक्षिप्य सव्यं गुल्फं ततोपरि ॥ ९ ॥ गुल्फान्तरं च संक्षिप्य मुक्तासनमिदं मुने ।

Transliteration

nipīḍya sīvinīṃ sūkṣmāṃ dakṣiṇetaragulphataḥ ॥ 8 ॥ vāmaṃ yāmyena gulphena muktāsanamidaṃ bhavet | meḍhrādupari nikṣipya savyaṃ gulphaṃ tatopari ॥ 9 ॥ gulphāntaraṃ ca saṃkṣipya muktāsanamidaṃ mune |


Translation

Pressing the right side of the frenum of the prepuce with the left ankle and the left side of the frenum with the right ankle, this becomes the Muktasana; placing the left ankle over the genitals and the right ankle over that, this, O sage' is the Muktasana.

Transliteration

päyumüle vämagulphaà dakñagulphaà tathopari | çirogréväsamaà käryaà muktäsanaà tu siddhidam ॥11॥

Translation

Place the left heel at the root of the organ of generation and the right heel above that, keep the head and the neck straight with the body. This posture is called the Muktasana. It gives siddhi (perfection).
