Kumbakonam Yatra| Sri Maha Prathyangira Devi Temple Visit
Narration
On 14 May 2018 HDH Nithyananda Paramashivam visited the Sri Maha Prathyangira Devi Temple. This temple is situated in a small village called Ayyavadi, around 6 kilometers from Kumbakonam, in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, India. Goddess Prathyangira is an Ugra Avatar or powerful incarnation of Mother Goddess Shakti. Lord Shiva is worshiped as Agastheeswarar and Mother Goddess is also worshipped as Dharma Samvardini.
Lord Shiva’s manifestation of Sharabha is also worshipped in the temple. Sri Sarabeswara appeared to control the Narasimha avatar of Vishnu. Prathyangira Devi appeared from the forehead of Sharabha. Prathyangira Devi in this temple is flanked by Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati. This is an ancient temple, associated with the Ramayana and Mahabharata.
