This temple is situated in a small village called Ayyavadi, around 6 kilometers from Kumbakonam, in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, India. Goddess Prathyangira is an Ugra Avatar or powerful incarnation of Mother Goddess Shakti. Lord Shiva is worshiped as Agastheeswarar and Mother Goddess is also worshipped as Dharma Samvardini.
