Prayer. Welcome. From today I will be continuing on Patanjali Yoga Sutras. From today next 10 days I will be spending elaborate discussion spending lot of time. Maybe I will be talking on 2-3 sutras. I will prepare all of you this one week especially for sharing enlightenment. 89TH Sutra, 2nd chapter 38th verse: Brahmacharya pratishtaayaam veerya labhaha Vivekananda: by being established in continence yogi gains energy Prabhavananda: When a man becomes steadfast in his abstinence Satchitananda: The one established in continence vigor is gained… Let me give me my understanding. I am not saying mine is better or greater than others comments. Maybe Vivekananda very casually commented on this sutra. I am not saying theirs is lower. No. all I am saying is fortunately I have more time to spend on these great books. Unfortunately Vivekananda did not have a battalion of disciples nor video or audio recording. Records say that every day he spent hours talking on this. It says morning they will cook eat and he will start session and go on till evening. Then they will have dinner and after dinner again whole night it will go on till late night. But if you see the transcription it does not look like each sutra he pondered for hours. Master in a stable sangha is required in the initial time. In the initial time for a conscious regeneration moment to happen, a master in a stable sangha where he is available every day for the community people, for a particular time for administration, for common man, the stability of the time & place is essential for things to evolve. For re-producable model to evolve. This reproducible models which can share enlightenment can happen if a master is there in a particular place, stable. Life with the master has become an intense enlightenment training because of this morning satsang part. Even if you are busy with some other activity, this stays with you as an undercurrent and goes on grinding you, polishing you and drilling you. I tell you the quality of the consciousness has drastically increased and exploded in the last one year. I am really happy about it. Now it is time we create these kind of people who go around and share it with the world. legally strong, socially clear, technically savvy, spiritually enlightened! These are the kind of people we want now to share enlightenment to the world. Shiva sutras is science of living sharing enlightenment. Yoga sutra is science of radiating sharing enlightenment. Brahmasutra is actually science of sharing enlightenment. Brahmasutra gives clarity to break the logic and ego. In energy darshan in few moments I break your deep rooted arrogant ego and infuse consciousness. If we can do the Khandana mandana to you means destroying the illusory darkness of the ego through Brahmasutra, the ego and the darkness will not have any power. It will just be superficial and alive and will be alive only how your body and mind need to be alive. You will eat, sleep, and it will tell you if you are tired. That much only ignorance will be there. Having ignorance to run basic life only is praarabdha. This kind of living happens when the khandana mandana happens means destroying the abusive logic. We will use time more & more to explore deeper & deeper spiritual things. Not only that we should be aware that in the last one year the number of hours and knowledge equivalent to what we gave in the last 9 years – we gave to the world! so this year 2011, 3 times more than what we contributed in the last whole 10 years we will do! Apart from 1200 hours that we contributed in the last 10 years, at least 3600 videos we will contribute to the world 3 times more. Let us create and share the deep technical spiritual truths with the world because fortunately I have time and science has all the gadgets like audio, video all facilities and gadgets. Let us use everything and tell the world what we need to tell and share. Today’s sutra - Brahmacharya pratishtaayaam veerya labhaha My translation is going to be rebellious or revolutionary! If you are established in Brahmacharya you will have tremendous strength vitality and vigor. Let us do the reverse calculation. Don’t translate the world brahmacharya immediately. I want to translate other words. Veerya means vitality, energy, labaha – means gained. Pratishtayaam means established. So brahmacharya should have a meaning in which you are established you will gain tremendous vitality and energy. If you translate brahmacharya as per the so called orthodox way as celibacy and suppression, my question is can you honestly vouch for the meaning veerya laabaha? No. I have seen millions of so called suppressed celibates. That is not going to justify the word veerya laabaha. Then what is the exact meaning? It is very technical and complicated. Not having physical relationship is one part of brahmacharya. But you need to understand a very important fact and truth. How that is experienced just not having physical relationship means there are millions of handicapped people or people who have sexual diseases or disorders – they don’t have the physical relationship but do they have veerya laabaha or energy? NO. then there is something wrong in this translation. We need to look in. the word brahmacharya means living like a God. First thing need to be done is breaking the idea you are body. That is why Patanjali uses the word brahmacharya pratishtayaam – established. I tell you, you cannot be established unless you break the idea you are body. So 1st thing you need to do is breaking idea you are body. So how the word brahmacharya is understood plays a major role in the technique and path of … Yesterday I was reading book written by Aurobindo. I miss him. He is a yogi not just a vedanti means he has mastery over the body. Still I wonder why people like Paramahamsa Yogananda who have mastery over body decided to leave the body. Just like Yogananda, Aurobindo’s body also did not disintegrate after he left the body. Not a single symptom or sign of death was there on his body. He was a yogi who had mastery over his body. I was reading his book on Nationalism. He uses a very beautiful word only if you understand the India’s divine origin you will be able to fulfill its divine destination. Please understand, only if you understand India’s divine origin, you will be able to fulfill its divine destiny. Same way only if you understand the word brahmacharya’s divine origin, you will be able fulfill its divine destiny. The word India or Bharath and brahmacharya are equally mystical and too complicated to be translated in one word. If someone translated India, they will say 3rd world country, growing country. Just like that only brahmacharya is translated as celibacy, continence – superficial words. You need to understand not having physical relationship – Yes, it is part of brahmacharya no doubt. But that alone is not brahmacharya. The word brahmacharya need to be understood. You need to understand the divine origin of that word. Only then you can fulfill its divine destiny or destination. If the translation is wrong, then the technique, methodology to achieve that state will also be wrong. That is why I insist that it should be understood as living like God. So breaking the understanding you are body should be the technical understanding. So when you get established in this, then the side effect of not having physical relationship can happen in you. Only then you can declare yourself as brahmachari. Actually even I cannot initiate you. I can only technically declare. Only you need to declare yourself. Every sound which a bird creates is nothing but for the male bird. Same way every action a man does whether it is making himself rich, powerful, glorious it is a call for woman. So when that major part is removed. Suddenly you fall into the tremendous tamas, depression. Understand if you don’t settle into the being and drop the doing, you will fall into the tamas. The non-doing should happen in you after falling into the non-duality. I have seen many people lying down whole day claiming to be seekers. Unless you work for non-duality, if the non-doing happens in you, it is a sin. Understand it is a sin, it is a tamas, depression. So if brahmacharya is translated as celibacy, then straight away you try to put yourself in non-doing without having non-duality. Please understand one of the worst things happened to monastic traditions all over the world, after a certain period the monastery becomes a prestige issue and they forget the spiritual path and cling on to the celibacy. This identity becomes more important that their enlightenment. So internally they are more clinging to the vows to maintain the celibacy than to enlightenment. You are supposed to be aware of fear and greed. Now you are caught in the fear of being caught in the greed! Wow, 10 times more processed poison. Their swadishtana is completely locked. And their whole life will be in depression. Ramakrishna says a failed sadhu is 100 times greater than successful grihasta, married man. With all my humble respect and gratitude to Ramakrsishna, first time I defer in public. A failed grihasta is 100 times stronger than the so called suppressed celibate. Because the belt he creates in swadishtana of fear caught in greed, he will have to take 10 more janma to break that belt. The whole Indian conscience is suffering with this suppression. You need to achieve brahmacharya. I am not saying no to it. brahmacharya is the goal but with the right understanding – it means living like God, establishing yourself with non-duality first and then non-doing. But if you put non-doing first, you will go thru all possible perversions and diversions and that itself becomes a BIG head ache. We need to spend more time in this topic. Having more & more detailed understanding. Whenever so called distracted thoughts related to celibacy comes up, if you try to suppress for celibacy it becomes suppression. If instead you handle the perversion through the idea I am not the body is used, it becomes brahmacharya. When you have a disturbed thought with the idea that you should be celibate or with the idea that I should be socially stable then it is disturbed perverted suppression. If you feel, I am not this body. I am using this body & mind to exhaust my prarabdha. If you use this and your disturbed thought goes away, then you are a brahmachari. The thought with which the purpose with which, the idea with which brahmacharya is achieved is more important than the brahmacharya itself! Understand the idea, clarity and understanding with which celibacy is achieved, is more important than celibacy itself. I think I am breaking a major blockage which Indian conscience is carrying for past 10,000 years. In some traditions, they put a lock to genitals or cut it. NO. That will not lead you to celibacy. The understanding of celibacy is more important than the method of celibacy itself! If this one understanding if Indian scriptures are re valued and re written, millions of confusion will be cleared and India will be liberated. The Indian youth may not need to lose their identity to enjoy their life. Indian tradition is not against life. No. you need to know and understand and realize it. So the way in which celibacy is achieved is more important than celibacy itself. That is why I am saying I cannot translate the word brahmacharya as celibacy. It can be translated as living like god. Only then you will have veerya laabaha. Being established in the consciousness of living like God, you achieve vitality and energy and you radiate it. That’s all! If this is the translation, everybody knows I am a brahmachari. Patanjali very clearly says with brahmacharya the vitality energy is gained. Any process if energy is not gained – for example you become more & more dull. I have seen how brahmacharis who come into few monasteries are so vital and in one year they become dull and sad. If you understand the meaning of brahmacharya is living like God, you are Paramahamsa, you will make people as Paramahamsa. If you understand it as ordinary celibacy, you will live in Parama himsa and you will give people parama himsa. Understanding of this one word will decide whether you are Paramahamsa or in parama himsa. Being celibate for social reasons you are in parama himsan – worst hell. So brahmacharya means that which straight away brings veerya laabaha. I tell you the moment you think and come to awareness that you are not body, the moment you witness I am beyond body & mind, understand you are established in different energy. If with this click, you are established in brahmacharya, you are in the right path. When you are established in this, celibacy also happens in you. it is a live, intense vital energetic celibacy.
