Swamiji arrived in Houston, USA on June 15, 2005, during His second world tour of this year.
The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) invited Swamiji as the Guest of Honor at the 23rd annual convention held in Houston, Texas, USA from June 16-19. Over 5,000 physicians, residents and medical students of Indian origin attended the convention. AAPI is the largest ethnic medical organization in USA representing 38,000 physicians and 12,000 medical students of Indian origin. The showcase sessions during the convention were Swamiji’s discourse series on 'Yoga – The Integrated Science of Body, Mind, Verbalization & Spirit' and 'Continuing Medical Education' (CME) workshop on 'Prescription for a Peaceful Mind'.
This was followed by an inspirational discourse on the art of meditation by Swamiji. In this discourse, Swamiji educated the physicians on the processing and assimilation of sensory information by the mind. Swamiji stressed the critical importance of following a daily meditation routine for physicians since they face the negativities (known as Samskaras or Engrams) from patients on a daily basis. The session ended with a meditation to consciously disconnect one’s self from these negativities.
Swamiji's sessions were the most sought after and best-attended ones in the AAPI convention.
