Initiation: Nithyananda's Morning Message 25 Aug 2010

Narration

In this discourse, Paramahamsa Nithyananda describes what is initiation, his experiments with Hatha Yoga Pradipika and his research about transferring his observations through initiation.

He says, "Whenever a master transmits the experience which has become part of his bio-memory into another body to become his bio-memory the process is called initiation. It may be physiological mutation or psychological mutation or just conscious ecstasy or a simple awareness experience or the deep restful awareness.

A master can transmit the physiological experience, mutation experience."

Paramahamsa Nithyananda describes his experiements with Swami Swatmananda's Hatha Yoga Pradipika where he found that simple breathing can create particular vibrations in chakras and certain changes in muscles. He describes how the different chakras like Muladhara, Swadhistana, Manipuraka, Anahata etc. are activated. After going through this experiment, Paramahamsa Nithyananda describes how this experience can be transmitted through initiation.

"There are 2 methods:

1. Making the disciple to sit and create certain mantras, vibrations, in that person

2. Just by touch telling the disciple to be in restful awareness able to transmit the formula Just by touch transmitting the formula is called initiation. When the disciple sits in an unclutched way or receptive mood, any experience transmitted from one biomemory to another without any effort from the disciple's side is called initiation. When it involves a little effort from the disciple and from the Master, it is called process. When it involves more effort from the disciple and less effort from the Master, it is meditation technique. When it is by disciple's efficiency and work, and the Master gives only instruction, it is called teaching."

(1:22)

I welcome you all with My love and respects The today’s truth is Initiation. Whenever a master transmits the experience which has part of become his bio memory into another body to become its bio memory, the process is called Initiation. It may be the physiological mutation or psychological mutation or just conscious ecstasy or a simple awareness experience or the deep, restful awareness; anything it may be. Now whatever I describe, each layer is one, one category. A master can transmit the physiological experience, physiological mutation, experience.

(2:49)

The other day I was sharing this experience in a session. When I was in prison, one day, I was reading Swami Swatmarama’s Hatha Yoga Pradeepika. There is a very beautiful translation by Swami Satyananda Sarswati. I have read so many translation but nothing like Swami Satyananda Saraswati; he has done so much of seva to this Hatha Yoga tradition. I really suggest all our devotees to use Swami Satyanandaji’s translation and his commentary. Bihar school of yoga has done a great service in preserving and protecting our yogic and vedantic science, sciences, that’s the right word.

(3:45)

This Hatha Yoga Pradeepika, I was reading a certain process which works on breathing and directly expands your muscles. So I was just very playfully playing with that technique, just scanning it as it is described, as it is prescribed in the sutra. I just tried to play with My breathing. I could see immediately changes in My chakras; the vibrational changes and immediately the muscles have started bulging, expanding. I was really surprised that Hatha Yoga is so powerful. Maybe the whole thing happened within two and a half second and within two-three minutes, I could see physically the muscles change, change in muscles. Understand, so simple breathing can create particular vibration in your chakras and that can create certain changes in muscles.

(5:04)

Then I started working little deeply; so when a person lifts ten kg weight in the hand, when he works out ten times, what all the changes happen in muscles, what all the changes in breathing, what all the changes in different chakras, I was able to clearly observe. Then I decided to reverse the process, create that vibrations in the chakra without lifting the weight. I could see very clearly that same vibrations when they are created in the chakra, the same breathing change happens and the same muscles are getting built. So now we know the formula to shape your body without working out. We know the secret of, lazy man’s technique to build body, to build mass, to build muscles! I was really surprised.

(6:09)

Then when I started working deeply on it, developing a kind of a formula, because you see, when a person starts working out, lifting weight, the first thing happens is, certain unit of muladhara gets awakened; the desire to build the body. Anything physical is sexual. Please understand, anything physical starts from sex because body is built on sex. So second step, I saw the worry - manipuraka gets activated and the third the anahata, vibrations are happening. Then fourth, immediately the thing happens is the fear, the muscles start getting the fear of losing its shape or the old muscles. See, when you build muscles, the old muscles get the fear that they will lose their shape. Their individual identity is losing, it’s relaxing, it’s disappearing. Then comes jealous, no, I should be like that body. That jealous acts as a life pattern in making the old muscles to inspire to become new muscles so that death is tolerated, the death is accepted; because the new muscles are inspired by the jealous, by the comparison.

(7:43)

So, I could see very clearly the pattern. Then I thought, can this pattern be transmitted? I discovered two process, two method. One, making a disciple to sit and creating certain vibrations, certain mantras, to create the same chakra vibrations in that person; that’s one process. Second, just by the touch, telling the disciple to be in a restful awareness and just by the touch, the formula, I am able to transmit that formula. So just by the touch if the formula is transmitted, that is called initiation.

(8:29)

Please understand, when a disciple sits in an unclutched way or in a receptive mood, any experience transmitted from one bio memory to another bio memory without any effort from the disciples side, it is called initiation. If the same thing is transmitted with little effort from the disciple and little effort from the master it is called process. The same thing is transmitted, more effort from the disciple and less effort from the master, it is called meditation technique. If the whole thing is transmitted only by a disciple’s efficiency and the disciple’s work, master gives only instruction, it is called teaching. Teaching, Technique, Process, Initiation. So at different levels master works with disciples.

(9:30)

In initiation, there are so many things. One: Awakening the non mechanical parts of your brain. See when you come with a certain understanding, when you land on certain understanding, suddenly some parts of your brain which was not available to you, which was not working, will be awakened. I tell you, simple intellectual understanding that you are the cosmos; not experience, simple intellectual understanding, ‘you are the cosmos’, awakens immediately certain parts of non mechanical brain in you. Certain parts of your brain which is non mechanical is awakened immediately just by the simple intellectual understanding; nothing more. You will be really surprised, now I am actually working to do scientific researches how a simple understanding can awaken the non mechanical parts of the brain. Then meditation, then process, then initiation. There are so many levels.

(10:44)

Even simple intellectual understanding if it is transmitted, it awakens certain parts of, non mechanical parts of your brain, and ecstasy, the devotion, the love. You don’t need to do anything. Just if you see the love and the devotion, ecstasy, in the masters eyes, it will just be caught by your heart. That is why, around the world people crave so much for this emotional expression visually being presented. Why do you think so much of craving for this reality shows, this cinema, this TV? Why do you think? When you see a kind of an emotional experience in the eyes of people, your emotion just picks it up. It just starts enjoying.

(11:55)

So when you see something in the master’s eyes, it is the highest pure expression, simply your heart catches it. Some people were asking “Swamiji, why did you make a gold coated throne for pujari, for a priest, in your temple?” I tell them, “The love and devotion with which priest looks at the deity will be caught automatically, spontaneously by a devotee. So the job of the priest is not physical job, it is a conscious decision. He is respected because he takes the conscious decision of radiating love and devotion, respect to the deity as God, continuously. So when he looks at the deity, the very eyes should radiate love, the very being should radiate devotion, so that the devotees who are onlookers, who are first timers, who are new, catches that love, catches that devotion, catches that ecstasy. This is what I call initiation into Bhakti.”

(13:19)

Transmitting knowledge, ideas, and awakening the non mechanical parts of your brain is initiation into Shravana, into the truths. Transmitting the joy and ecstasy from the eyes, into an onlooker, an ordinary devotee, is initiation into Bhakti. Same way, transmitting the strong formulas through vibration or through the presence, into the disciple and making him experience the deep, restful awareness is Dhyana, initiation into meditation or process. And initiating a disciple just by transmitting the bio memory and putting the disciple into that experience is Jeevan Mukti Deeksha. That’s the word I can use- Jeevan Mukti Deeksha. So, there are various levels of initiation; various ways of initiation.

(14:46)

I can tell you one thing. If you just be passive, even an ordinary bamboo, an ordinary hill, an ordinary river, can become guru; they can initiate you. I myself first was initiated by Arunachala hill. Of course I can’t say that hill is an ordinary hill. If you have received initiation, then it becomes Guru. You can never conceive it as an ordinary hill. Maybe for a normal man it is an ordinary hill. I tell you, when you are passive, Ganga can initiate you. I have known hundreds of sadhus who have been initiated directly by Ganga Mata, river Ganges. I myself had initiation from Arunachala hill.

(15:43)

I had a deep process with Ganga Mata. I used to sit with her, sunrise to sunset just watching things floating on her. Maybe in ten-fifteen days, I realized whatever change happening in My inner space is also just like things floating on Me, like how things are floating in Ganga Maata. Nothing touches Ganga, so nothing touches Me. I can say this is a process I had with Ganga. It became realization; just like how when things float on Ganga; you don’t worry. See, like this rainy season, so many things will be floating in the Ganga including human bodies. If you sit in Calcutta on the banks of Ganges, you will see animals, human bodies, plants, trees, huge trees which are sometimes like a 50-60 feet length, huge trees with the whole root they will be brought by Ganges and it will be floating. So, so many things will be floating. I will just see; sit and watch. In few days I realized just like how things are flowing in Ganges and never Ganges is affected, same way I saw that sleeping, waking, dream state, seeing, visualizing, all the triputi bheda, all the different distractions, different changes in My inner space are just flowing and nothing is touching Me, nothing is touching Me….. untouched.

(17:33)

So understand, being passive even the river, hill, simple plants, trees can initiate you. I have seen hundreds of people initiated by our Kalpataru - banyan tree. Our Kalpataru is a living tree. All you need is just being passive, simply he can initiate you. I can’t even say he, I can’t say he or she because there are two enlightened masters body below, buried. This tree has grown out of two enlightened master’s body; one is a male body, another one is female body. So, Kalpataru can just straight away initiate you and I have seen Zen master, one Zen master who was initiated by a bamboo. He was sitting under a bamboo grove and he was so passive, the bamboo initiated him and he became enlightened. So, transmission of enlightenment without anything, just by the transmission of bio memory is initiation.

(18:42)

Today all of you, the LE process disciples will have initiation into various great experiences - experience of ahimsa, satya, aparigraha; the various eternal experiences, you will have initiation. So get ready. We will get ready for initiation. As I suggested whoever wants can shave the head and have the bhasma snana, means taking bath applying ash, the herbal ash, on the body and be ready for initiation. If you apply ash please go and take bath in the vaidya sarovar. It is not just the quality of the water which comes out of the linga, the whole area has been energized; that is why that 1008 shivalinga. The each shivalinga, inside the shivalinga, the yantra has been installed. Now they are re working. Don’t think just because they moved the shivalinga, energy is changed. No. I am putting it in right angle so that the whole area covers like a laser beam; the whole area becomes energy field. That’s why I am altering the space between the shivalingas and arranging, organizing. So have your snana, get ready for initiation.

(20:23)

So I request all the disciples around the world, just today, this one day, practice passiveness. Means, slow down, slow down all your physical and mental activity. Move everything with awareness and you will see you receive initiation wherever you are; My blessings to all of you to experience initiation and experience and radiate enlightenment. Live and radiate the eternal bliss Nithyananda. Thank you. (21:01)

There was a sadhu called Shivananda - Ramakrishna’s direct disciple. He initiated this Tapasyananda. All of you are able to catch up all these trees I am telling? Ramakrishna’s disciple.... Ramakrishna is one of the greatest incarnation. His disciple is Shivananda. That Shivananda’s disciple is this Tapasyananda. When Shivananda gave the name Tapasyananda Tapasyananda asked, “Baba give me guru vakya” Guruvakya means, one word - the Guru’s order. Shivananda looked and said, “Be tapasyananda, that’s all”. Means have the austerity - tapas. Then Tapasyananda asked, “Can you describe tapas.” Ahimsa, Satya, Asteya, Aparigraha, Brahmacharya. Just that five words he gave - Ahimsa, Satya, Aparigraha, Asteya, Brahmacharya; over, that’s all. This fellow just with lived it... just lived with it.

So decide strongly... with this standard of Tapasyananda and Vairagyananda, having them in your Consciousness, separate every item, take up and see. “Is this required for me... for me to live for next 48 days?” If you don’t, then dump it. Whatever is required tie it in a cloth and bring it. I wanted you to bring the whole thing next session. You see, next session you will bring your bag with which you are going to live for next 48 days; nothing other than that you will use on your body in the next 48 days. You see I am not going to open the bag and see and all. No, no, don’t worry, I am not going to interfere in your privacy and open the bag and see. But I wanted to see.... the depth of aparigraha can get into in your system. So, just have one ordinary cloth and pack it and bring. No, I wanted you to go through this conscious exercise. I am telling you, really I am telling you, when you hit the basic survival need things of your body, the extraordinary energies of your body gets awakened. Push it to the maximum. Try.

(3:04)

Without disturbing your health; but anywhere health is disturbing don’t do it... because your health is first priority. If you can manage without disturbing your health take it up. Take it up, I tell you, it will really do so much to you, so much to you. When you just look, “Oh God this is the total connection between me and the world; Nothing more.” It’s a liberation; such liberation I tell you. “Wow this is the whole, my property, wealth.” Strength of aparigraha, suddenly the strength of aparigraha, can just change the very system of your body.

So everybody what all you are going to use for next 48 days pack it and bring it. Pick up one by one and see...meditate on it 5 minutes. “Do I need this for next 48 days?” Yes - put this side. No - put that side. And after you collected all the objects with which you said yes, go through once more. Pick up ... “do I really, really, really need? ☺ For next 48 days? Maybe not” Then drop. Before your mind says “no, no. May be”...drop it. Try. Try this aparigraha.

(4:54)

And asteya – do not touch anybody’s property, do not steal anybody’s property. ☺ Don’t... I don’t have my shampoo ☺ I don’t have my soap. I don’t have...No. I don’t have my chappal. ☺ Do not pick up anybody’s items.

Neem juice...very good. If you are allergic don’t take. If you are allergic don’t take. Otherwise have at least little. Little means quarter litre - 250 ml. It will really, really help you with this whole process. Because we are working on the body it will be really good if you cooperate with all that. Mud plate, mud pot - it’s a very traditional way of eating, very good for your health, very good for health. Still in Indian villages people eat in the mud plate. There is another one fruit velangai 6:16. If you see our brahmacharis eating... any of you guys did you see our brahmacharis eating? It is a special fruit... if you put the hard/hot food into that, one part of that fruit comes in that which becomes a medicine; very good for liver. I was using that for long time. The aghoris eat in skull. Nirvani, nirvani akhada, our sampradaya; they basically eat in human skull. There are 3 options. First priority is human skull, the second priority is this fruit but we will not be able to get both; don’t worry. The third priority is the mud pot. Fourth only is steel plate.

(7:04)

So satya means talking the truth. Compassion - be compassionate to your own feelings and the enlightened science, Science of Enlightenment. Third aparigraha: sit and scan everything and have only minimum things. The remaining don’t throw it away, pack it and keep it separately... don’t touch; take it back when you go back, that’s all. Learning aparigraha And asteya: don’t steal anybody’s ... non-stealing And brahmacharya: physically being away from touching the other bodies. Practically I am getting you back to 5000 year old Vedic tradition in every step; so completely reorganising your body and mind for Ayurveda... for Ayurveda. After Swatmarama Buddha did, after Buddha Ramakrishna did, after Ramakrishna first time this process is being practiced now. In last 5000 years Swatmarama, Buddha, Ramakrishna and fourth time this process is done with group of disciples... in last 5000 years. Understand you are fortunate having a Master and directly working with Him. Any of you find any difficulty please don’t stretch yourself or don’t create... don’t suffer. Ahimsa - non violence, Satya – truthfulness, Asteya – non-stealing, Aparigraha - living with minimal things and Brahmacharya – not touching the other bodies. It’s not only our religious faith; it’s a very powerful system, technique for Enlightenment. So I will really prescribe, whoever trusts Me, I will really prescribe - even in your homes have small deity; whatever God you like, whatever Deity you like – like a Shiva or Rama, Krishna or Jesus, or any saint or any Guru or any Avatar; have small deity and it will do so much to you. Having deity and feeling it is a living God, not representation of God, it is God - does so much to you, your inner space and for your Enlightenment. I can tell you even having a pet makes you more healthy. Having a deity makes you physically and mentally healthy. I can say conscious pet is ishta devata. Conscious pet...pet in ordinary way is pet – dog, cat, snake, what all they have as pets.

(10:52)

I am giving ... our whole sangha is built on three statement. One: God can be realised in the human body - First statement. Second statement: I realised it. Third statement: I can help you to realise it. (11:06)

Narration

In this session of the Living Enlightenment Process(Day 2) Swamiji answers:what is sathya, and what is ahimsa? First Swamiji poses the question for us to answer: “What are we? Who are you? How do you define yourself?” Then, He he explains that “You are atman, and you are cosmos. You are not body you are the soul.” “The first initiation is sathya: telling you who you are, which is, the soul”. Then Swamiji asks us to imagine the highest version possible of ourselves, and says that this is the real version of who we are.

Now I know why it took whole day. So you guys had ash and applied and took bath? Ready for initiation? Great. All others also even though you are not shaved you had the ash and applied and took bath? Good. Now we will start the process.

(0:34)

First, few things. Understand, this is the psychological part of the physiological process. Actually the whole program is going to be just based on body - physiology, physiology, physiology again and again and again. It's going to be working on physiology. The psychology part will be just one or two, very few. But very important.

(1:02)

Swatmarama does not believe in sitting and talking and ba...ba...ba...ba...ba...blacksheep and all that...no. There is no blah blah. He is the precise, most powerful Master - powerful, precise. No blah blah. But wherever he gives instructions, he is very straight and strong. First thing, Ahimsa. Please understand non...Ahimsa means non-violence, not as you understand, as it happens. You see, whatever inner space you are in, strongly act. That's all. That is compassion. Be compassionate to yourself. Understand, when Swatmarama talks about compassion, this is the exact description he is giving. Be compassionate to your thought pattern, to your response mechanism. Let me explain...compass...Ahimsa and Sathya.

(2:09)

Next topic is Sathya. Please understand, Sathya does not mean talking the fact, talking the truth. I am initiating you in...in...into an important thing. This is exactly Sathya. Sathya means, talking the truth. Truth is you are Atman (soul); you are Cosmos. So, from today, continuously this whole next 48 days, you will not address yourself, remember yourself as body. You will constantly talk of yourself only as Cosmos. Please understand, it's not a small joke. You will remember yourself and talk about yourself only as the soul (consciousness). The highest understanding about consciousness and soul, what you carry, that is you. So you will talk only in that way. That is what, meant by the word, truth.

(3:16)

Please understand all of you, Sathya has to be practiced, Ahimsa has to happen. But you guys are doing ulta. You are practicing Ahimsa which is fear based and you are waiting for Sathya to happen. You understand what I am saying? You think, "Oh let me realize I am Atman then I'll talk.” But you are trying to...you are practicing compassion. Why? You don't need to do anything; and you can go on judge...justify your weakness as what compassion.

(3:57)

Yesterday he was talking why um...Krishna did so many things, he punished the Rakshasas (demons). “Why you are compassionate?” Come on...pen down the whole thing and upload it in the plan. You...use...first take the step. You understand? That's all, nothing else. So all of you take the responsibility, each one. Compassion has to happen, Sathya has to be practiced. But you guys are doing complete opposite. That is why the process never happens. The funny thing is the Vedanta talks the other way - compassion should be practiced, Sathya has to happen. So it is very lazy thing. So you guys are very happy with that lazy thing. That is why never transformation happens. Never transformation happens.

(4:54)

I tell you, any transformation happens by this kind of the revolutionary Hatha Yoga method only. The doer, Swatmarama is a doer. But, we are very happy with the philosophy where you can just talk, nothing needs to be done. You understand? Nothing needs to be done. Swatmarama is a doer, powerful doer and he delivers himself and he transforms. He shows, the result is there and the experience is there. Please understand. Now, you are completely...I am shifting...I am shifting the whole...the method of process, the thinking.

(5:44)

There are systems where your light...right brain left brain is divided and just whatever flows in that way, items are...things are interpreted. As I said, the compassion needs to be practiced, truth has to happen. So in this...with this teaching you don't need to do anything you see? Just your weakness can be painted. That's what I call...I say, in the left nothing is right, in the right, nothing is left. In the left nothing is right, in the right nothing is left. That's the way we are living. That is exactly...that is exact way we are living. But here, Swatmarama is shifting the attention, shifting the whole energy.

(6:36)

Now I tell you, Sathya, truth has to be practiced and compassion has to happen. End of this process, whatever compassion happens in you, let it happen. It'll happen. But don't bother about any idea which is not happening. There are some things which you need to practice. Let that practicing be done. First thing today you have to understand is, Sathya has to be practiced.

(7:10)

Please understand, now I am initiating you into Sathya. Ultimate Sathya is, you are the Cosmos. You are Divine. You are Consciousness. You are Soul. Feel yourself, tell...express about yourself only as Cosmos - whatever you understand as Cosmos, as Divine, as the highest possibility. You will have some imagination - the highest possibility is my Swamiji or highest possibility is Shiva or highest possibility is the light. You will have some understanding as the highest possibility. Understand from this moment you are that. Talk and think you as that. And if you forget - thinking you are that or speaking you are that - you are lying. You understand what I am saying? The definition of truth, definition of Sathya. Anybody has...all of you are able to understand? If you are not able to understand please raise your hand, I will explain it very clearly. All of you are able to catch what I am saying?

(8:24)

You see, I am actually awakening the non-mechanical parts of your brain very strongly. Understand the Sathya, concept of Sathya. Now I am telling you very clearly. All of you believe or un...able to understand, I know about you, much more than you know? I know about you much more than you know. So now I am telling you the truth, you are Cosmos. You are the highest possibility you understand. Don't visualize the idea which you don't understand. There is an understanding in all of you as the highest possibility - highest possibility means health, energy, ability to do anything - these may be your understanding, your visualization. So understand, now I am saying, you are that.

(9:21)

Whatever highest possibility you visualized. Can you take two second and pen down, what is the highest possibility - God, Cosmos, Soul, Consciousness, any word you can use. What you think as highest possibility, can you just write few lines, just two minutes. Wanted you to remember clearly. Please describe in a very detail, visual way of what you think as highest possibility.

(9:55)

Indians are really really really intelligent fellows bec...because of this Hatha Yoga. So their dress, their food, everything is with regard to health and awakening of the higher consciousness. So try to wear that kind of...that a...Brahmacharis are wearing, that Pancha Kaccha. But Sari is not a intelligent dress. It's not Indian actually. It's not originally from Indian system, it's from Parsi. The uh..they brought it, they brought it and...when they came, they brought it and it became Indian. But of course, the traditional Indian dress, now you can't wear. Three piece of long piece they will be wearing. One in the hip, one in the chest, one to just cover...the Juna Akhadas....

(10:45)

Somehow the computer makes the head completely dim. All My computer genius...I saw all the fellows working with computers...I saw...head stops working. Two plus two...run for computer, and then finally type the wrong letter...go on typing the...for two plus two they would have typed backspace for four times. If you count...count how many times they type the backspace, you'll find out how...two plus two is what.

(11:26)

So this is Sathya. Understand? The meaning of Sathya, truth - the highest possibility you can visualize is you. Tomorrow itself this possibility will suddenly expand and grow into new understanding, then, you are that. As on now, you are that. Whatever highest understanding you have about you, is you. Whatever highest possibility you think can happen, is you. So from this moment, whatever you wrote, the highest possibility, idea you have about the highest possibility, as on now, is you. Understand this one truth. All of you trust, that I know about you much more than you know about you. Any of you have..."No no no. I don't think You know about me, much more than me" Any of you think? If you think then I know about you much more than you. Now I am telling you very clearly, the truth. The truth is, what you wrote as the highest possibility, God or Consciousness or Cosmos or the Soul, you are That. You are That. This is the truth.

(12:55)

Now I am initiating you into the practice of the truth. From now, you will remember, talk, position, express yourself...I'm telling a legal standard...remember, talk, position and express yourself - remember yourself, talk about yourself, position yourself, express yourself - as that highest possibility, that God. I'll give the name as on now, we need to have a one technical term, so that we can repeat easily. So for that I may give the name, maybe Soul. Let us have that word Soul as the technical term. But that Soul means, just like in legal docs now they say hereby this this all of us put together called we. So all this put together call Soul. What you wrote now is Soul. So, from now you are Soul. You will remember, you will talk, you will express, you will position yourself as Soul.

(14:13)

From this moment, understand, anything other than this Soul, if you are trying to remember yourself or talk about yourself, you are telling a lie. So this is the Sathya - the first instruction, the first initiation. One more thing, now continuously we will be opening many parts of your bio-memory. So every time when you remember that you are the Soul, that will get into your system. That'll just get into your system. It's almost like a melting each and every part. Each and every part will be melted. So this constant remembrance will get into the system.

(14:59)

Please don't have cap. Actually you are asked to shave the hair, for the free Samana only. You have, you are feeling uncomfortable? Cold? Huh? Just one or two days, if you are not able to handle after few days, then wear. First one or two days try to handle. Because for the free flow only that very shaving has been done. The Samana, you'll be...starting...from today you will be working on Samana. It's the prana which you inhale through the...goes to whole body...using the whole body. It is very little quantity, but very intense. That is responsible for anti-aging.

(15:41)

In My experience, the monks are the people who live for a long time. In My experience I've seen, these Ramakrishna Mission Sadhus, these Tibetan Buddhist monks, these fellows will not die. They'll be just sitting 150 years, 110 years and the disciples are waiting for the throne, and these fellows will not move. I've seen, and these guys get into the seat and go on enjoying the whole life. No I've seen, uh...the average life span of India is I think 62 or something, for a upper middle class, not for middle class or lower middle. Lower middle class and middle class it will be very less, I'm talking about upper middle class. This Ramakrishna Mission fellows, average age is 103. No really, Sadhus, Ramakrishna Mission Sadhus, 103 is the average age. Nothing, no worry, nothing to be done. These fellows live and the disciples are waiting. When this fellow will move and I can sit.

(16:48)

Anyhow, it's because of the...their lifestyle - the Hatha Yoga mixed lifestyle. So it bring tremendous health. The Samana is responsible for anti-aging. I Myself have seen Sadhus who are 103, above 100, have 70 by...sorry the blood pressure is 120 by 70. Above 100, perfect blood pressure, 62 pulse rate and no specs, no extra fittings like a teeth or anything, no walking stick. The moment you see, you will know very clearly, next ten years this fellow is not going to move and he is going to be sitting here, comfortably. So, it's because of Samana, Samana. Everyday they have the Bhasma snana. They will have the ash and taking bath in the Ganges.

(17:49)

You should take bath in a large water body, where 100 times more water is stored than your body weight. So, these are all the instructions. You should have the possession less than your body wait. You should take bath in a water body, which contains at least 100 times more than your body weight. So that it carries enough of Prana and your body is rejuvenated. Taking bath is not just cleaning the body, it is sending a sensitive Prana inside body. So don't worry at all about taking bath in this Vaidya Sarovar, because, that machine is there, continuously it is purifying. The purifier is not using any chemical. It is using only oxygen.

(18:36)

So from now, you are That. Consciously, constantly remember not to tell lies. Means, remember yourself as the ultimate. If you've lived around Me, of course whoever has lived around Me know, when I talk in my mother tongue, even now I don't use the first person. Even now, no first person, Sami, Swami, Swami. Even English, but now I am managing English, because people from different culture are not able to understand. When I addressed Swami Swami, one day I was giving a big discourse, addressing Me as Swami Swami Swami, end of the discourse they asked, "Who is that Swami, Swamiji?" I said, "Oh God." Then, I decided I don't want to confuse people. So I started using the word I and Me.

(19:31)

Anyhow, but next 48 days, you are not going to use the word I and me. It's going to be fun now. It's going to be fun now and I don't know what word you are going to use to address yourself. You can use the word, whatever word you want, you pick up, that I don't know. That is what you are going to do. That is what you are going to do. If you want, you can have may be one or two exemption like, when you talk to your family or sending some email or communication, not to confuse them or frighten them that you have become crazy hmm? Maybe at those moments, but that also, the moment you finish writing, remember, "Oh I told a lie. I told a lie for practical purp...for them to understand" out of your compassion for them. That's all. Out of your compassion for them, you told a lie. Except those one or two rare things, I really wanted you to be completely truthful. You will see now big chaos happen. I tell you, big chaos will happen. The way in which you think, walk, talk, everything will be in chaos, big mess. That is the ultimate beautiful mess. I tell you, really, that'll really settle a new personality in you.

(21:04)

Now how will you say I am hungry? You cannot say. How can Cosmos be hungry? How can Soul sleep? How can Soul be tired? How can Soul be thirsty? Nothing can be done now. Go on talking, go on telling, nothing else. And after four five days, you may have little higher understanding of Soul. The moment it happens, you are that now, upgrade - G4. Upgrade yourself to the highest understanding again and again and again. That is Sathya. Sathya is not stuck with some facts or ideas. That is why a normal person cannot understand that I am established in Sathya. I'll suddenly say, "Oh we have 150 ashrams". We have only 40. If you know the number, you are in big mess. "What? Just now I counted we have only 41, this fellow tells..is straight away telling it's 150. What is going on?" Because, I am seeing 150. What to do? But fortunately, whatever I see only happens.

(22:30)

By the time, you see when they write books, I'll tell. "Eh put there's 150 ashrams in 33 countries." By the time they print it and bring the book, it is there. What to do? So, establish yourself in Sathya, whatever you say will become Sathya. Whatever you say will become Sathya. So, this is the first step - Sathya. Thoroughly re-arrange your inner space with this Sathya. If you have any doubt, put it as a question, now I will clarify. Now I'll clarify. Thoroughly re-arrange your inner space as Sathya. Rearrange - first step.

(23:20)

Second step - the compassion. As I said, be compassionate to yourself. Sharing enlightenment is the ultimate compassionate act. Whoever is doing things against that, don't be compassionate towards them. Act as per the law of the rule...law of the country. Act as per the law of the land and what you think as compassion, go with that. For state you are there, go with that. Active compassion not frightened...fear being justified as compassion.

(24:01)

Third important thing, Aparigraha. Understand, Aparigraha means, living with less things, living with miminal things. You need to understand this truth, living with minimal things. It is not the morality, it is a science of enlightenment. Now, go to the room and pick up all the things you have, for next 48 days can I live without this? Pick up each thing, pick up each piece you have. One piece dress - can I live without this for next 48 days? If you think I can, then drop it. Let this reduce your luggage. Understand, of course, car, bed, all those things are not yours, ashram is providing. Whatever you brought, whatever you brought, pick up one by one and see, next 48 days for this weather can I live without this? Will I be able to maintain without falling sick, without this item? So pick up every item and check. Understand, I really wanted you to be honest, sincere, try your best. Try your best. Of course, whatever you dropped, you are not going to drop it, keep it separate, tie it and keep it separate, you will not touch it. When you go back, you carry that and take it back, if you go back. Understand.

(25:43)

Let Me share some of the strong experiences, personal touch I had, with some of the Sadhus, who mastered this Aparigraha. One Sadhu, who mastered Hatha Yoga, his name is Vairagyananda, powerful Sadhu. He lived, I think, may be above..above a 100. He was living in Haridwar. Last few days of his life, the so called sickness, means, naturally body has to deteriorate and leave...it has to leave. So they...it was kept in the Ramakrishna Math Hospital. He was direct disciple of Sharada Devi, Ramakrishna's wife. Any of you have heard about that? It's a one of the greatest happening in the female body - Sharada Devi. From My level of understanding, whatever I know about spirituality, I'm not able to see another one happen in the women body, female body, like Sharada Devi. She is the greatest happened phenomenon in the female body in spiritual plane.

(27:10)

This guy, this Vairagyananda, he was a small Brahmachari. he goes to Sharada Devi asking for initiation, mantra deeksha. So he expected she will give the mantra of the Ishta Devata of him. His Ishta Devata was Sodashi. Sodashi means Rajarajeshwari. If you see, in Our ashram, near the...the flag staff, one devi...deity will be sitting with four hand, sugarcane in one hand and a flower in another hand, four hand she will be sitting, the left leg down. That deity is Shodasi, Rajarajeshwari. So that deity is his Ishta Devata. He goes and asks, uh...that...the deity which is sitting on the swan....standing on the swan is Rajarajeshwari-that golden swan...on...that is Rajarajeshwari hmm? So later on you can go and see near. She will be having three things...four things - Angusa, Pasa, the flower and sugarcane.

(28:21)

So, he went and asked, "Give me the mantra, mantra deeksha". But she was in such Samadhi and ecstasy, she just gave her own name. She said, "Eh, chant my name, Sharada Devyei Namah." This fellow was little offended, "Oh I thought she would give mantra of my Guru, my God, she is so arrogant, giving her own name as mantra." As usual, usual problem. The moment he thought, she just smiled and said, "What for you are asking mantra of your Ishta Devata?" He said, "If I chant continuously..."-there is a tradition in faith, if you chant akshara laksha....see Sodashi's mantra is 16 letter...syllable. If you chant that mantra 16 lakh time, you will have darshan of that devi, Shodasi. He said, "If I chant akshara laksha..." means, each syllable, one lakh time, 100,000 time. Means how many syllables are there?

(29:25)

For example in Our 'Om Hreem Nithyanandaye Namah', in that you will see, the eleven aksharas will be there. So eleven lakh time if you chant, you'll have the darshan or a strong etheric connection with the Master and the energy transmission will be directly happening. That is the, whenever you want, wherever you want, He will appear. This is the traditional faith. so he said, "If I chant akshara laksha, I will have darshan of Devi." She just laughed and said, "Look." and he saw Devi at there. He just saw Devi is in there and he...she just gave a Sodashi, darshan as Sodashi. This fellow was completely shaken, this Vairagyananda. Then he fell at her feet and said, "My life is yours, please give me Sanyaas." Then, she gave Sanyas immediately to him, without even delaying one day, one moment.

(31:21)

Very rarely Masters give Sanyaas like that, very rarely. Even I have not given...I have not given Sanyaas like that to any...not a single person. And when they ask - alright have it, never I gave. Ramakrishna gave like that for few and Vivekananda gave for few. Sharada Devi gave for few. Vivekananda gave for...for...for his first disciple. One...it's a very beautiful story...one station master. Vivekananda was travelling once in the North India, in the third class compartment. One Sheth...Seth, means the Baniya, the business community person, he was sitting. In the noon he started eating and this Swami was...Swamiji was sitting in the front. He said, "See, I am working so I am having food." You fellow, you having such a healthy, bulky body and you are lazy, not working. In the name of becoming Sadhu, you are roaming around and you should work and eat. Vivekananda said, "I have not asked for your food. Why are you abusing me?" He kept quiet.

(31:37)

Anyhow, in the next station, when Vivekananda got down, one middle-class man came running and fell at the feet of Vivekananda; and he brought a huge basket of food, and he said, "I was sleeping in my room...bedroom in the house, Rama appeared in my darshan and said, I am coming, bring food for me and he showed your form and name and he told me to come and give food for you." Vivekananda said, "I don't know you. Are you mistaking?" He said, " No, you are the person and Ra...uh...Rama showed me the wound in the right eyebrow. It's a very funny thing, Ramakrishna, Ramana Maharshi, Vivekananda, Jay Krishnamurty, Osho, see all their photo, right eyebrow wound will be there. I am really surprised, how come this right eyebrow wound and...see all their photographs...mine also. I don't know, how the...that mystical connection.

(32:46)

Anyhow, "He showed me the right eyebrow wound." If you read the Vivekananda's biography you will see. "And he asked me to feed you." Then okay, Vivekananda was eating. When Vivekananda was eating, that Baniya, that uh...that guy that uh...kshatriya..sorry that businessman, that fellow got frightened...he understood the whole seen and he thought, "Oh he is a Maha, Paramahamsa, he is a Sadhu, I abused him." He came and fell at the feet of Vivekananda and cried, "Forgive me for my mistake, don't punish me, don't curse me". Vivekananda said, "Don't worry. Go. It's okay and I am not angry."

(33:24)

The station master saw this whole thing. How that businessman abused him and how Vivekananda was patient and how this guy...uh...this one devotee had the darshan and brought the food. He saw the whole thing, and he was a seeker. Those days, having job under British especially railway is a big thing. If you talk to any Indian big family, they will say, "My Father was working in railways." That is something like a great achievement. Having job in the railways is like a...almost you are like a governor. Working under British is a...like a...you are the governor. So this guy, but he is a seeker, this station master. He came and fell at the feet of Swamiji, Vivekananda and begged him, "Please, bless me and give me Sanyaas. Then he says, Vivekananda says, "Are you ready to give up everything?" This station master says, "Everything." "Alright, then renoun...drop all your clothes now, wear only the loin cloth. Go around and beg in the cooleys...all the cooleys who worked under you till this moment." And this guy immediately writes the resignation paper. He is the master, so he can't give it to anybody. So he keeps it on his table for next person to come and take it; and remove...throws all his clothes, wears loin cloth, goes around begging from the cooleys...station cooleys...porters, who were working under him till the...one moment before, till half an hour before. San...uh...Vivekananda was shocked, the renunciation, the Vairagya, strength. Then he initiates him and gives the title immmediately, 'Sadananda'. First Sanyaasi of Ramakrishna order. The power of Aparigraha, living with minimal things.

(35:26)

And this Vairagyananda, I was talking about this Vairagyananda. This guy gets the darshan of Dev...Sharada Devi as a Devi and then Sharada Devi initiates him into Sanyaas. Then the...after the initiation, Sharada Devi tells him, "You can do Pada Puja now to my feet." He did Pada Puja and offered the kumkum. Then after the Pada Puja she says, "Take this kumkum." He took that kumkum and kept it with him, little bit. And this guy was sick. In his last moments in Haridwar, he did not have one disciple, single disciple. I was there in the Haridwar at that time. So I was taking care of him. My only job was I'll travel and if I find any Sadhu sick, I'll take care of him. That was My job. Now I am going to make a trust for that (foundation) just for that job - that's My passion, taking care of this sick old Sadhus. And I was taking care of this Sadhu, this Vairagyananda.

(36:31)

Just the day before his passing away, two day before his passing away, he called Me and he gave Me one small packet, in which that kumkum was there, that Sharada Devi's feet dust. He gave it to Me and he said, "This is my only possesion. I am handing over this to You. Please have it." As per the rule of Pancha Puri Sadhu Samaj, you see, as per the rule of the Sadhu community in Haridwar, the Brahmachari who serves the Sanyasi, at the last moments, he is the inheritor of the property. That is the law. it is accepted by the Indian pe...law uh...legal system also. For Sadhus, the Sanyaasi's property goes to a person who serves at the last moments. If he is not ma...not made any will, hmm?

(37:24)

So, I served him. He gave Me that kumkum. Anyhow, I accepted. I did nor serve him for the property, I served him for the...My respect. He uh...accepted that, and next day to next day, third day, early morning he just sat up and went into Samadhi and left the body. Then, We all did what needs to be done and We...he said, "I don't have money for burying or cremation. Put my body into Ganga." It's called Jala Samadhi. Even in that, Aparigraha - means, living with less things.

(38:03)

You'll be shocked...ab...this is the most powerful shock. Uh..We took the body, put it in a small box with a stone and offered it to the Ganges - Jala Samadhi. We came back. All the senior Sadhus, they wanted to uh...uh..have his...uh...take his ashram and hand over to Me. I said, "No, I am not going to stay in one place." They said, "We will hand over formally to You. You give it to somebody and go." This is the Pancha Puri Sadhu Samaj law. So, when they took Me to the place, everyone was shocked, not even one tumbler was there. Can you imagine? Even a glass was not there. We asked the neighbor, "How this Swami lived, without even having a glass, how he used to eat or sleep?" He said, "No some devotee will bring food, he will eat in the same plate and send the plate back." "How he will drink water?" "Outside his ashram there is a government tap, he will come there and drink water and go and lie down." Can you understand? Literally, literally lived with nothing. I don't know how you guys will understand. Really, he lived with nothing. Can you imagine, a man in the planet Earth, just ten years before, it happened in 1999. Sorry, may be 1980, only ten years before; ten years before, lived in the planet Earth without anything, more than 100 years. He...he was more than 100, when I was taking care of him. Can you imagine? And at least this guy did not have an organization.

(40:11)

I will tell you another one story, who was the head of the organization, lived like this. One Swami, Tapasyananda. He is the Vice President of Ramakrishna Mission, international Ramakrishna Mission. In Ramakrishna Mission, as per the rule, President is not legal member. he is legally out of everything. Vice President is the legal member. He is legally, Head. He is the Head of Ramakrishna Mission practically. Legally, he is the Head of Ramakrishna Mission, Tapasyananda. Please understand, Head of 2 lakh crore property, almost 50 billion dollar property. Tapasyananda, any of you have heard about him? He is the...he was staying in Bangalore...sorry Chennai ashram, Chennai Ramakrishna Mission - highest tapasvi I have ever heard, I've ever heard the highest form of Tapasvi, even without enlightenment. He was not enlightened, but a great Sadhu, great Sadhu. He translated Bhagavatam into English and his Bhagavatam is very popular in English.

(41:30)

This guy, same way, one day he was little sick and he sat down, called the...all the uh...disciples who are studying under him, told them. He was taking some class, some Viveka Chudamani or Vedanta Parisbhasha, some scriptures; and he told, "Alright, today finish it...finish everything. I am not going to take the class from tomorrow." They were shocked, because he was such a hardworker. They said, "Why? why Swamiji you will not take the class from tomorrow?" "Because I am dying." He said, "I have decided to die tomorrow." Uh...just next day morning, got ready and prepared himself and died. That's all. And after the death, as per the tradition, the body has to be washed and they have to put the new clothes. In the room, they searched, searched, searched. Finally they found only one more towel with him. Please understand, no cot, no bed, no mattress, no mat, nothing. They found only one extra towel. One and a half...fifty billion dollar. (42:56)
