Original Verse

"आपूर्योर्ध्वोर्ध्वं यो रोधो हृदादिषु स उत्तरः

मूर्ध्वतोऽधोऽध अधरो मुनिभिः परिभाषितः ॥ ९८ ॥"


Transliteration

"āpūryordhvordhvaṃ yo rodho hṛdādiṣu sa uttaraḥ

mūrdhvato'dho'dha adharo munibhiḥ paribhāṣitaḥ ॥ 98 ॥"

Translation

"Inhaling and holding (of prana) from heart upwards (upto the top of the head) is called Uttara, and from the top of the head downwards upto the heart, is called Adhara by the munis."
