Ugadi marks the beginning of the new lunar year according to the lunisolar-based Hindu calendar. Celebrated by various Hindu communities, including Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, and many others, Ugadi symbolizes the first day of the lunar year. It is also recognized as Nyepi, the New Year, in Indonesia and Bali. Should Ugadi and other major Hindu festivals be recognized internationally for their inclusive values and the Hindu diaspora's contributions to all the countries it settled in? Unfortunately, even Hindus who enter these fields often lack knowledge of their enlightened roots. Should Hindu practitioners in the field of modern medicine receive specialized training in traditional Hindu medical systems?
