June 11 20142014-06-11A close overhead photograph of a metal casting furnace built from rough stone and brick blocks set into a dusty ground. Glowing orange coals fill the opening, and a ring-shaped metal crucible or mould sits among the embers. A long iron tongs or rod reaches in from the left to handle it, with a ladle or tool at the right edge. No people are visible.2007-08-27August 24 20142014-08-24February 03 20172017-02-03A close view of a metal crucible filled with molten glowing orange metal, gripped by long iron tongs with its rim resting on red-hot glowing embers on the ground. A torch or flaming stick sits at right beside a second glowing mass of molten metal, and dark soil and ash surround the setup. In the background at right, the lower legs and white cloth of a standing person are partly visible, along with a bare foot in a sandal. No person's face or a person's appearance is visible, so no candidate is identified.2013-07-13 +1 copiesA close view of a traditional metal casting process in clay crucibles set in the ground. Glowing orange molten metal sits in a bowl-shaped clay mould at left, while flames rise from a fire pit between clay vessels. Iron tongs with long dark handles grip the crucible. Dry sticks and reddish-brown earth surround the furnace, and a second clay vessel at right glows red inside.2014-09-21July 13 20132013-07-13 +1 copiesFebruary 03 20172017-02-03November 24 20062006-11-24A photograph of an open-air metal casting setup on bare reddish earth in front of a corrugated metal wall. Flames burn from a pile of coals on a flat metal tray in the centre. Several sand moulds sit on the ground with molten metal poured into their cavities, and a shaped metal ingot lies at the right. A hand-cranked power blower stands at the upper right, and an orange-and-white paint or cement bucket sits at the left. Metal rods lie across the ground. No people are visible in the frame.2007-08-27A close photograph of molten metal being poured from a curved metal crucible into a clay mould during deity casting. Bright orange molten metal streams out of the crucible's lip into a sand-coloured clay mould, with flames and smoke rising around the pour. Two long iron rods support the crucible. Only the lower legs of a person in white garments are visible at the upper left, and the ground is reddish earth.2013-07-29A photograph of several wet clay moulds laid out on a blue and white checked cloth on bare ground. Each mould holds a sculpted figure in relief, with limbs and bodies pressed into soft brown clay. A taller clay form with a hollow cylindrical top sits at the upper right, and a larger lump of clay lies at the upper left. Sand, gravel and a white cloth surround the arrangement. No people are visible, and no event or ritual is shown beyond the sculpting work.2013-06-07
