August 02 20082008-08-02August 02 20082008-08-02A large crowd of devotees in white clothes with saffron-orange shawls fills a dim, night-lit outdoor area beneath trees. Many people wear rudraksha or bead necklaces, and one man in the foreground holds up a framed photograph of a bearded figure with a tilak and wears a saffron shawl. Women in white saris and orange wraps stand among the crowd, some with hands folded at the chest. Overhead string lights and dark foliage frame the gathering. No clear a person candidate is visible, only a small portrait held by a devotee.2008-08-02Night photograph of a ritual at a temple garbha site. In the foreground a golden kalasha-shaped vessel sits on a square gold base over an orange cloth on a stone platform. A woman in white kneels with palms pressed together and eyes closed, beside a woman in a white top and glasses, also with hands joined. A figure in white lies on a wooden board with an orange shawl. Behind them a crowd of men and women in white garments, many wearing orange shawls and rudraksha malas, stand with hands folded in prayer. A wooden pole and a fluorescent tube light are visible at night. The scene reads as a consecration devotional moment.2006-12-11July 11 20122012-07-11A photograph taken at night in a narrow stone-walled temple passage, with a dim lamp glowing at the upper left. A crowd walks in procession. In the centre, a man in an orange turban and orange robe, with a rudraksha mala around his neck, walks forward carrying a small book. Around him, men in saffron-orange robes and beaded necklaces walk among others in white shirts and white dhotis. A uniformed official in khaki stands at the far left edge. The figure in the orange turban has distinctive saffron turban and robe cues, but the appearance is not clear enough to confirm identity.2008-01-02January 02 20082008-01-02Night photograph of a crowd of men in white dhotis and white shirts, many wearing saffron/orange shawls, standing outdoors under a lamp post with a round globe light.
