Outdoors on a sandy ground, a line of boys in mostly orange and white shirts and grey or blue trousers, many barefoot, pull hard on a long wooden rope in a tug-of-war game. Smiling boys on the rope line lean back, and a few boys stand behind them watching. A pale yellow wall, a chain-link fence and flowering plants form the backdrop, with a stack of wood at the right edge.

A tug-of-war game on a dirt ground in front of a plain yellow wall and a chain-link fence. Several boys in white, orange and pale shirts and light trousers, some barefoot, lean back and pull a thick rope with a white cloth tied to its middle and a red-pink cord at the end. Marigold plants grow at the left edge, and a wooden crate sits at the right beside a large stone. Chalk lines mark the playing area.

Outdoor photo on a bare sandy ground in front of a white building. A crowd of children and teenagers stands in a loose semicircle facing away from the camera. In the foreground, a woman in a white salwar kameez with an orange shawl and a woman in an orange-and-red patterned shawl and maroon checked skirt stand with their backs to the camera, hands clasped. A man in a white shirt with an orange scarf stands at the top left near the building doorway. Several boys wear white shirts and grey trousers, a girl wears a blue-and-white dress, and a pair of black sandals lies on the sand at right.

A photograph of a group of young schoolchildren in matching light blue uniform shirts eating food from small paper or leaf plates outdoors among greenery. A girl in the centre with braided hair and a blue ribbon, wearing a small white forehead mark, is chewing and looking toward the camera. Several boys around her, some with white tilak marks on their foreheads, hold food in their hands.

A street procession in a South Indian village. In the foreground, a long line of schoolboys in white shirts and khaki shorts stands along a dusty unpaved road, many looking toward the camera. Behind them, a crowd of women in colourful saris and men in white shirts and trousers gathers near a canopy with a striped umbrella and a ceremonial parasol. A man in a white dhoti-style outfit stands at right beside an orange-clothed figure. Concrete houses, a tiled-roof building and a painted wall with a red-and-yellow design line the roadside. Brick walls and a parked vehicle appear at the top of the frame.

Overhead view of a dusty open ground with puddles and tyre tracks. A line of about fifteen schoolboys in white shirts and dark shorts walks in a long column across the sand, with a woman in a light blue sari leading or walking alongside them at the left. Shadows fall long across the ground, and a few young plants sit along the edge of the field.

A photograph of a long line of Indian schoolchildren standing outdoors on a dirt ground, clapping their hands together. Boys in mostly plain shirts and shorts stand shoulder to shoulder, some in yellow, white, and dark brown tops. Behind them is a green field and a low building with a tiled roof. No a person candidate is visible in the frame.

A photograph of a group of boys and young men standing in a line outdoors on pale sandy ground under bright white light. They are bare-chested and wear white dhotis with coloured borders in red, green and gold. Several have white sacred ash marks on their chests, arms and foreheads, and beaded or cord necklaces. Some wear small identification badges pinned to their dhotis. A figure at the left edge is an older man with white ash on his forehead and a cord necklace. The scene suggests pilgrims lined up for a ritual procession, with no swami visible.

A crowd of smiling schoolchildren, mostly boys, presses close together outdoors in a dusty school yard. In the foreground a boy in a dark striped shirt and a boy in a white collared shirt with a light blue top grin at the camera; a boy with a small red tilak mark on his forehead stands centrally. Behind them girls in pink and yellow school dresses and boys in white shirts and dark trousers are visible, with a building wall and a green plant at left. Several more children are partially visible at the back. The scene appears to be a children's gathering at a school or community event.
