A photograph of a Navaratri puja inside a covered hall, with large ornate gold-and-blue deity murtis framed by arches in the background; a central goddess murti holds weapons and rides a lion. Seated devotees in colourful saris and garlands sit before the murtis, and a bare-chested priest in a rust-coloured dhoti stands at left. In the foreground, a shaven-headed sannyasi in orange with long hair and an orange head cloth sits facing the altar, with a brass lamp, flowers and a pooja tray nearby. Rose petals are scattered on the cloth-covered floor.

Large colourful clay murtis of goddesses stand in the background, one multi-armed goddess holding a trident-like weapon beside a lion mount, flanked by gold-and-green decorated halos. Girls in pastel and green lehenga-style dresses sit on silver-framed seats wearing garlands. In the foreground a priest in a red-brown dhoti stands at a yellow-stained homa or yagna pit with lit oil lamps and flower-filled brass offerings. On the right, a seated man in a red-and-gold dhoti wearing a yellow marigold garland sits on a cushioned silver throne under a silver canopy, with a devotee in orange nearby.
