Around them are small clay bowls of white grains, red and pink flower petals scattered on painted kolam-style rangoli patterns in red and white, a basket of apples and bananas, and a round metal plate heaped with orange marigolds. A red patterned cushion lies at right, and a few feet in orange and maroon saris are visible at the top edge, with a bare-footed person in white dhoti at top left. No one's face is visible, and the scene reflects a ritual offering setup.2013-02-12A photograph of an outdoor ritual setup at dusk beside a tree trunk ringed with fresh green grass and a low brick border. Two ornate gilded arched canopies stand behind yellow-brick square fire pits (homa kundas) with brass and copper vessels, a small brass lamp and ritual implements arranged between them. Garlands of white flowers and green leaves decorate the canopies and the central offering platform, where mangoes, coconuts and bananas sit in woven baskets on banana leaves. Embroidered cloths in red, yellow and white lie on silver-plated seats. Partially visible figures in orange-red dhotis stand at the top edge, and a bare-chested figure is at the upper right; they are only partly in frame. Green leaves are scattered on the ground.2017-06-08Close view of a ritual fire burning in a brick-lined fire pit, with a flame rising from the centre.
