Dusk photograph on a riverbank at the Allahabad Kumbh Mela, with a large crowd of devotees standing on sand facing the water. Many wear white, grey and blue shawls and caps, and several men in saffron or orange robes stand near the front. In the centre, a figure in orange stands near a tall pole with a lamp at its top, beside decorated umbrellas and a circular ornamental frame. A uniformed official in olive green stands at left. Lights of the far bank and a bridge glow across the dark river under a hazy pink sky.

Several small decorated canopied palanquins or processional structures with orange and red fabric stand in the water's edge area near the front. Many people wear shawls, jackets, kurtas, saris and orange or saffron clothing; a man in a red robe and a man in a green turban stand near the front, and a man in a white headcloth appears at right. Many people wear winter clothing: woollen caps, shawls, scarves and padded jackets in brown, grey, blue and dark tones. A few figures in orange or saffron clothing stand among them, and orange flags rise above the crowd. Some people carry bundles and bags, and one person in the foreground holds a mobile phone. Pale banners are visible at the right edge. The scene suggests a pilgrimage gathering at a mela ground.2013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10April 24 20162016-04-24
