A cremation ground at a riverside ghat, with stacked split logs and a bed of dry straw on dark ashy ground. Two stray dogs stand near the pyre area: a white dog with a curled tail sniffs at a dark object on the ash, and a larger black dog faces it. Orange marigold flowers lie at the lower left, and a scattered cloth or shroud is visible at the lower right. The legs of a person in grey-green trousers are partly visible at the upper right edge, but no full person is shown.
