In the left foreground a shaved-headed priest in white dhoti and shawl, bare-chested with a gold chain, sits and pours liquid from a silver vessel toward a central figure. The central figure is a seated statue in saffron-orange robes, an orange turban, a beaded necklace and a garland of yellow and red flowers. Behind it stand a tall golden deity murti with a red cloth backdrop, a yellow and red flower garland hung with large yellow beads, and a white draped cloth on the right. Brass lamps, silver bowls and a metal tray with flowers sit on the altar in front.2011-01-17A photograph of a temple puja setting. A bare-chested priest in white dhoti and a gold-beaded necklace sits cross-legged on a dark platform, eyes closed, chanting, while his hands rest over brass and steel vessels, a silver bowl, a small glass and an oil lamp. Beside him stands a white statue of a sage with a saffron-orange robe, a saffron turban, a rudraksha mala and a raised palm. Behind them hang a garland of yellow and orange marigolds, an embroidered silver-and-black ornamental backdrop and a saffron cloth. The scene suggests a padapuja offering ritual.2011-01-17December 14 20102010-12-14September 12 20152015-09-12A photograph of a temple puja inside a shrine. A young man in white kurta and white dhoti, with a yellow shawl over his shoulders, sits cross-legged at left with palms pressed together in prayer, eyes lowered. Behind him a large deity murti in gold and orange drapery is decorated with yellow and red flower garlands. In front stands a white marble image of a figure in red and orange garments and a red turban, garlanded with white flowers. Brass vessels, a kalasha-style pot, a lit oil lamp and a brass bowl of offerings sit on the altar, with a yellow-and-orange flower offering in a tray at lower left.2010-07-13A photograph of a puja at a shrine. A framed portrait of a seated man in saffron-orange robes with a white beaded mala, one hand raised in blessing, is garlanded with red, yellow and green flowers and set on a red armchair-style seat. Behind it stands a gilded deity murti draped in red cloth. A man in white dhoti and shirt with a yellow shawl sits cross-legged at left, tending offerings. In front are stacked dark blocks, a glass bowl with a yellow fruit, brass vessels, rose petals and banana leaves with fruit. Brass oil lamps stand on either side and incense smoke rises through the scene. The portrait is a depiction, not a person present, so the in-person candidate is absent.2010-06-06A shaved-headed priest in orange-saffron robes sits cross-legged on a raised stone platform at lower left, tending a ritual setup of brass vessels and lamps. Behind him a shrine with gilded arch and carved stone pillars frames three deity murtis: the central figure wears a red turban and rudraksha-style necklace, flanked by two figures with crowns. Multicoloured flower garlands in red, yellow, purple and white hang across the shrine, and a white-draped platform holds a lingam with a kalasha-style vessel. Brass oil lamps stand on either side.2013-05-28August 08 20112011-08-08July 08 20102010-07-08
