A photograph of a ritual setting with a large polished silver kalasha covered by a silver lid, decorated with a white jasmine garland, mango leaves and a yellow-orange cloth, sitting on a bed of rice on a woven mat. Pink and white roses, white flower garlands and orange marigold strands surround it, and a silver lamp stand and metal vessels stand nearby. In the background a woman in an orange-bordered white sari bends forward, and other people in white clothing stand behind a colourful draped backdrop. This appears to be a kalasha arrangement for a homa or puja.2006-07-17A photograph of a ceremonial silver kalasha on a green silk-bordered cloth-covered table, decorated with white jasmine garlands, pink flowers and green mango leaves, with a golden coconut-like top. Embossed deity figures decorate the metal pot. Beside it sit a small silver bowl with red kumkum and a dish of pink and white flower petals. Behind, a person in white dhoti and red-bordered shawl holds a wooden pole. Sandy ground and a whitewashed wall form the background. The scene suggests a procession or ritual preparation.2009-06-17 +1 copiesClose-up photograph of a polished silver kalasha, a ceremonial pot with an engraved, bulbous body, topped with mango leaves and a coconut wrapped in turmeric-yellow cloth. A small oil lamp with a bright flame stands at the left edge. Behind it, a framed portrait of a man with long dark hair and a garland is set in a decorated backdrop with red and orange flowers. On the right, a person in white clothes with a white cloth over the shoulder and a rudraksha mala holds a staff, and a bare hand reaches into the frame.
