March 03 20112011-03-03Dusk photograph beneath a huge banyan tree with long hanging aerial roots and pale-barked branches. In the foreground a small raised circular platform holds a red-painted stone mound with a tall metal trident-like stand and a standing deity murti draped in red cloth and garlands. Three people stand nearby on sandy ground: a woman in an orange sari-style garment on the left, and two men in white dhoti-and-shirt ritual clothes, one wearing an orange shawl with a flower garland. The setting looks like an outdoor shrine or puja spot.2007-02-25February 25 20072007-02-25A photograph of an outdoor grove beneath a large spreading banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots and sweeping branches. Under the canopy sits a black stone deity murti on a raised platform, draped in orange cloth and set on a mound of orange-red powder, with a dark circular border. Several people in white clothing walk along a sandy path, and a woman in white stands near the centre, while other figures are scattered among the pillars and benches. The area has white pillars, low concrete seating and a swing hanging from a branch. No individual is clearly identifiable as a person from the visible cues.2010-12-16Outdoor ritual under a large banyan tree with many aerial roots. A standing figure in a saffron-orange robe stands with hands joined near the centre, facing a shrine. Beside the figure, a black stone linga-like form sits on a mound of red-coated stones, dressed with white and red-and-gold garlands and a white-and-red arched frame. Seated in rows on the sandy ground, about a dozen people in white clothes sit before small brass oil lamps, bowls and offering plates, with a few in orange. A blue cloth and a round metal plate lie near the shrine.2006-08-17Outdoor photograph beneath a large banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots and spreading branches. A small group of people walks and sits on the sandy ground. A man in white shirt and white dhoti stands near a white pillar, while a woman in a white sari stands at the platform's edge. Another woman in a red sari and a figure in white clothing move through the shaded courtyard. A sign on a low stone bench reads Silence Please.2010-09-22A large banyan tree with sprawling aerial roots spreads over an open dirt courtyard. Beneath its canopy, a group of about twenty devotees in white clothes sit on the ground and on low stone benches in a semicircle. A standing figure in white stands among them near the centre. To the right, a dark stone deity murti with a red-garlanded base, a cobra-like serpent coil and an orange-marked statue stands on a platform.2013-05-13Outdoor photograph of a large banyan tree with a dense canopy and many aerial prop roots hanging from its wide branches. Beneath it, a shaded sandy courtyard holds a raised red-painted mound with a seated black deity murti draped in orange and red cloth, circled by a dark ribbed border. A single person in white clothing with orange garments kneels on the ground before the mound, apparently in prostration or puja. Nearby stand a dark stone slab, low concrete platforms around the trunk, and white-painted pillars supporting the tree area, with a tree in the left foreground.2010-10-20A photograph of a large banyan tree with many aerial prop roots and spreading branches forming a canopy over an open temple grounds.
