January 06 20062006-01-06A photograph inside a temple sanctum at a Shiva lingam shrine. A bare-chested man with long dark swept-back hair, wearing an orange saffron cloth wrap, sits at the silver-railed edge and leans toward the lingam, which is decorated with flower garlands and marigolds on a silver yoni base. Behind him, a second man in white dhoti stands barefoot beside a brass oil lamp with a lit flame on a marble ledge. A hand in a white sleeve reaches in from the right. A silver cobra hood sits beside the base, and marigold petals and flowers are scattered on the floor. The man has distinctive long hair and saffron wrap, consistent with the page's reference to a person; appearance-based identification is probable but not certain.2006-01-05Interior of a stone shrine with a deity murti or lingam covered in marigold and red flower garlands, an oil lamp burning on a pedestal to the left, and a brass bowl and scattered rose petals on a marble ledge. To the left, a seated older man in a brown shawl looks up toward him, and another person in a brown robe is partly visible behind. A brass bell hangs at the right edge beside a gold-framed doorway. Visible text is carved on the shrine stone above the murti and is not legible enough to transcribe.January 05 20062006-01-05January 06 20062006-01-06A photograph of a smiling person in saffron-orange robes seated on a stone floor beside a pale marble wall. The seated figure has long dark hair and a red tilak on the forehead, wears a gold chain and a rudraksha-style mala, and holds a staff with white beads and gold ornaments. In the foreground, a person with reddish-blond hair in a coral-red top is seen from behind. Behind them, standing figures wear white dhotis, a blue shirt and red lanyards. The figure in orange has distinctive long hair, saffron robes and ceremonial adornments, and the page associates this event with Swamiji. Appearance cues are distinctive but not conclusive, so the candidate is marked probable and in person.January 05 20062006-01-05January 05 20062006-01-05January 06 20062006-01-06January 06 20062006-01-06A photograph inside a temple shrine showing a smiling person in orange saffron robes with a gold bead necklace and a red tilak on the forehead, seated beside a silver-rimmed altar. The altar is decorated with coconuts, green leaves, yellow and purple flowers, and a silver offering plate. Behind the rail, another person in a light blue kurta with a yellow-and-red shawl sits with hands folded. A cobra-hood shaped carving or sculpture is visible near the top right. The setting suggests worship at a shrine, with the orange-robed figure appearing to offer or gesture over the offerings.2006-01-05February 13 20132013-02-13
