January 07 20082008-01-07A young man in a short-sleeved checked shirt and grey trousers stands on a blue-legged metal platform, plastering a rough stone block wall inside an unfinished building. The wall is partly rendered with pale grey plaster, with a small barred window opening on the left. Metal scaffolding pipes run across the top of the frame, and sacking or cloth covers the floor below. The space looks like an early-stage construction site with bare walls and exposed beams.2007-05-19January 07 20082008-01-07A photograph of an unfinished interior under construction, with bare white plastered walls and a concrete floor strewn with wires, tools, sand piles and loose debris. A man in a blue short-sleeved shirt and khaki trousers stands on a concrete block, working on an electrical panel mounted on the wall with a bundle of coloured wires. Three other men are crouched or seated in the background near sacks and sand heaps. Green and white electrical boxes and coiled cables lie on the floor in the foreground. No ritual, a person or devotional activity is visible.2009-12-09December 28 20092009-12-28A construction worker in a red and white checked shirt and light trousers stands on a blue metal scaffold ladder, plastering or working on a concrete block wall under a corrugated metal roof. Wooden planks and green electrical cables with a floodlight are visible on the right.2009-12-15A photograph of a construction site where a man in a red and blue plaid shirt and grey trousers stands on a scaffold, applying mortar with a trowel to a grey concrete block wall beneath a corrugated metal roof. He holds a metal mortar tray in his other hand and wears a red-and-orange thread on his wrist. A second worker in a yellow shirt is partly visible in the lower left foreground. Blue scaffolding and wooden planks frame the right side of the image.2009-12-15A worker in a pink striped shirt plasters an unfinished interior wall of unpainted concrete blocks, holding a flat mortar tray in his left hand and smoothing grey cement with a trowel in his raised right hand. The wall is partly coated with grey render, and a small dark fixture or niche sits high on the wall. Pillars and a beam frame the bare space.2010-01-13Photo 11733994A worker in a checked shirt, cap and paint-stained trousers plasters a long concrete block wall along a dirt road. Part of the wall is finished in grey render, and the remainder is bare grey and reddish block. A blue plastic tarpaulin lies on the ground at the base, with a blue bucket on the roadside. Palm trees and young saplings stand behind the wall, and a red-and-white sign is visible in the distance.2010-02-03Night photograph of construction work at a concrete-block building under warm artificial light. Four men work by the wall: a crouching worker in a white head cloth and pale patterned shirt uses a trowel against the blocks, a standing man in a checked shirt and white trousers holds a plumb line, and two men on the left wear a checked lungi and a blue-and-white head cloth, watching. A taut string line runs diagonally across the frame, and a round metal tray, cement bricks and tools sit on the ground. A dark rectangular window opening is set into the wall above.2006-11-20Two workers are plastering or finishing a grey concrete-block wall indoors. The man in the foreground wears a cream striped button-up shirt and raises his arm, holding a trowel against a vertical concrete column. Beside him, a second worker in a faded grey-blue shirt and a light blue head cloth reaches up to the wall. A pale blue chalk line runs horizontally along the lower wall, and a metal pipe rises along the right edge beside an unfinished concrete opening. The scene shows ordinary construction work at the ashram. +1 copies
