Behind him, rows of tiered red steps hold many dark stone lingams with gold-coloured pieces, and seated attendees in pale clothing are visible in the background. A red-orange flag stands at the right, with coiled cables and a chain-link railing nearby. The scene appears to be a ritual gathering at a temple-style courtyard.2016-12-15June 02 20162016-06-02 +2 copiesJanuary 05 20062006-01-05A photograph taken at a riverside stone ghat in hazy early light. In the right foreground, a man in a bright orange turban and orange clothing, with long dark curly hair, looks out toward the water with a slight smile; he appears to be a person by his orange turban and long hair, though the image is partly cropped. Behind him on the reddish wet steps, several people stand or bathe in the river: some bare-chested men in white dhotis, women in colourful saris, and a man in a brown shawl at the water's edge. Scattered clothing bundles, small flowers and debris lie on the steps. A distant shoreline with buildings and a small boat fades into the fog over the river.July 07 20182018-07-07A photograph taken from behind a seated person in an orange robe and a leopard-print headband, resting a hand near the chin on a brick ghat step overlooking a wide river. A small blue boat with passengers drifts on the water, and a steel truss bridge spans the river in the background. Along the steps, people in saffron, yellow and pink saris and dhotis stand and bathe at the water's edge, and a woman in pink walks on the left. The sky is overcast and the far bank shows buildings and trees. Swamiji (probable): the seated figure wears a long swept-back dark hair, a leopard-print headband and orange robes, cues consistent with the page's reference to Swamiji.2008-06-09A photograph of a man standing barefoot on a stone ghat step beside water, hands pressed together in prayer near his face with eyes closed. He has long dark hair falling down his back, a tilak on his forehead, and wears a red sleeveless top with a rust-orange shawl draped over his shoulders and an orange-brown dhoti. Behind him are tiered red steps with brass lamps, a red flag, a metal railing and a tangle of black cables. One other person sits in the background on the steps.2016-12-15November 24 20162016-11-24A photograph of a man with long matted dreadlocks and a reddish-brown rudraksha mala draped over his shoulder stands bare-chested with an orange-red cloth wrapped at his waist, hands pressed together in namaskar at his lips, facing the sea at a stone-walled waterfront. Other people stand along the white-tiled wall and on steps, with men and women in dhotis and saris and some wading into the water near metal railings and concrete posts.2018-04-29Photo 11716761 +2 copies
