June 22 20092009-06-22Outdoor photograph on a sandy ground beside a thatched-roof shed. Two men play large frame drums with wooden sticks. The man on the left wears a pale yellow shirt, an orange-and-gold bordered dhoti, sacred ash marks on his forehead, and a rudraksha-style bead necklace with a lanyard badge. The older man in the centre wears a white shirt, white dhoti with a gold border, a purple lanyard, bead necklaces and an identity badge, pointing with one hand while holding a drum. A man in a blue shirt stands behind them, and another drummer's hands are visible at the right edge.2009-12-24Drummers perform in a decorated hall with banana-leaf style plants, colourful panels and orange bunting overhead. In the foreground, two young men wearing orange or yellow cloth and beaded necklaces play large barrel drums with sticks. Behind them, men in white dhotis and shirts walk along a woven mat runner, some carrying drums and others looking on. Several people hold small identity cards on lanyards. The setting resembles a temple or ashram procession.July 21 20102010-07-21Street procession scene with several drummers playing hand drums (thappu/melam-style) on a road. In the foreground, a shirtless young man in a pink lungi with a multicoloured shawl and a bright orange sash plays a drum, and a shirtless man in a yellow-and-green sash and orange cloth plays another drum with a stick. To the right, men in white dhotis and white shirts play drums. Behind them, a crowd in white clothes stands along the roadside, with a bus visible in the background. A man in a checked shirt stands at the left edge.2010-02-18June 22 20092009-06-22April 19 20082008-04-19A group of musicians performs on a covered temple-style veranda beside an orange wall with red and white painted bands and white steps. Six men in white dhotis and shirts play instruments: on the left, two play nadaswaram-type woodwind horns, and beside them a man plays a brass horn. In the centre, a man in a white dhoti with a pale green shawl beats a large double-headed drum with a green cover, while another man with a light blue shawl plays a smaller drum at the far right. A man in white at the edge also holds a drum with orange and red cloth. The wet floor suggests recent rain.2010-07-21January 01 20062006-01-01Five male drummers perform on a stage in front of deep red velvet drapes. From left, the first plays a large barrel drum (dhol-style) in white dhoti and brown vest with a blue sash; the second, in white shirt and dhoti, plays a smaller round drum with red trim; the third, in pink shirt and pink-orange dhoti, plays a white-rimmed frame drum; the fourth, in pink shirt and white dhoti, plays a second frame drum; the fifth, in pink shirt and white dhoti, plays a barrel drum. Blue floral backdrop panels and a patterned rug sit below the curtain, with yellow flower garlands and small brass lamps at the left edge. A logo and copyright text appear in the corners.2009-07-05July 17 20082008-07-17Two men in plain white traditional clothing stand facing each other on a dirt ground in a rural setting with palm trees and a thatched hut behind them. Each holds a barrel drum with a dark skin head and yellow, red and green painted bands, slung from their shoulders by cords. The man on the left wears a white kurta and dhoti with sandals, while the man on the right wears a white kurta and dhoti barefoot. Both appear to be preparing to play the drums.2006-09-05
