Outdoor ritual at a rural site under a tent with orange and green cloth, with bamboo poles flagged in saffron. A long-haired man in saffron robes and a red-orange shawl with a beaded necklace stands at a stone-lined sacred pit, holding a small item in his hands, with a round wooden platform in front. Beside him, a bald man in saffron robes holds his hands in anjali. Several saffron-clad men stand at left holding a tray of flowers and fruit, and bananas lie on the ground. Figures in white clothes and pink saris stand behind a fence, and a cameraman in white films the scene. Painted decorative pillars stand at right and a dog is in the background.2008-04-19Outdoor ritual procession at dusk on bare earth, with a sugarcane stalk at the upper right and a trees-and-red-wall backdrop. Several men in white dhotis with gold borders stand at left holding colourful striped umbrellas aloft over a group of robed people in saffron and orange. In the centre two figures in saffron-orange robes and rudraksha malas stand before a patterned mat, one holding a brass tray with lamps and offerings while the other holds a ceremonial vessel. A row of devotees in orange and white stands behind, palms pressed together. Stone basins with water sit in the foreground, and a white kolam design is drawn on the ground. The ritual appears to be a procession or puja of devotees.2016-01-16Outdoor ritual scene under large banyan trees with hanging aerial roots. Several men in saffron-orange robes stand on a woven mat near a raised circular platform. The central figure, in orange robes with a white flower garland and a red-tasseled mala, stands with palms pressed together in prayer. Behind him, a man in orange holds a gold-topped staff, and another holds a brass plate of flowers. On the mat in front are brass oil lamps, a small bowl, incense sticks and a plate of offerings, with a red deity murti visible at the right edge. White-painted walls and a stone structure appear in the background. The scene looks like a puja or aarti. The central figure's appearance is consistent with a possible a person identity, but this is uncertain.2008-12-23Outdoor procession along a sandy garden path under leafy trees. A central figure in saffron-orange robes wears a long multicoloured flower garland with red, white and purple blooms, a white headband, and multiple beaded necklaces; he has a shaved-to-short head and walks barefoot. Several saffron-robed men follow, one carrying a tall gold ceremonial staff with a finial and another holding a long golden rod; a bearded man at right holds a brass tray or offering dish. An older man in white with an orange shawl stands at the left edge. Scattered fallen red petals and seeds lie on the ground beside a low hedge and a small black-and-white cat.2009-12-25Outdoor homa ceremony under a canopy strung with purple and white pennants and pink-and-red draped cloth. In the centre, a bare-chested man with long dark hair wears a saffron-orange dhoti and a white flower garland, holding a ritual implement or flame toward a square fire pit on a white-tiled platform. The pit is lined with marigolds and fruit, and dozens of fruit-topped offerings and bananas sit along the platform. Behind him, men in white shirts and white dhotis, several wearing orange scarves and garlands, stand in a semicircle, and a woman in a yellow sari stands at left. A decorative round-fan style object and umbrellas in bright colours surround the scene. The cloth and banners are typical of a yagna setting.2006-12-29A temple ritual photograph in which a priest in orange dhoti and shawl kneels at left, offering a brass plate of yellow and red marigold and rose petals. Beside him a bearded man with bare chest, rudraksha mala and orange cloth sits cross-legged, holding a small offering. Several seated devotees in orange and saffron robes and white clothes watch, some with folded hands. Brass vessels, a copper pot, kumkum bowls, a plate of fruit and a small tray lie on the stone floor, with a green cloth and a pillar at left.2010-07-21December 26 20082008-12-26January 14 20182018-01-14November 12 20082008-11-12August 09 20072007-08-09November 12 20082008-11-12Outdoor ritual at a dirt-floored site fenced with bamboo poles and orange pennants. In the centre, a man with long swept-back hair, a rudraksha-style garland and an orange shawl over orange robes holds a small bell-shaped vessel and a lamp-like object, a flame visible behind him. A bare-headed orange-robed man at left presses his palms together. Behind the fence, a row of people in white dhotis and a woman in pink sari stand with hands folded; a tan dog stands near the pole. A decorated pillar with red, yellow and blue motifs and a large carved stone disc sit at right, with a concrete base being laid nearby. The scene suggests a ceremonial opening or puja. Appearance-based label: Swamiji (probable), in person, based on long hair, orange robes, shawl and garland cues.2008-04-19
