May 09 20022002-05-09A photograph of a small indoor hall with a rough grey stone wall and a wooden pillar wrapped in white flower garlands, with a larger garland arch overhead. Two saffron-robed figures sit in cane chairs on a striped rug. The seated figure in the centre has a white beard, is barefoot, and sits on a white mat with a fruit offering of bananas and pineapple and a small floral garland in front. Beside him a figure in a saffron robe and saffron head wrap sits with hands clasped. A man in a white shirt and cream trousers stands barefoot, speaking and gesturing, next to a woman in a white sari with a brass oil lamp.2002-05-09Photo inside a temple shrine. A tall brass lamp stands in the foreground with a red flower tied near its top. Two men in white ritual dress bend toward it, one with hands extended over the flame; one wears a white shirt and dhoti, the other is in a yellow-and-white shawl with tilak. Beside them stands a figure in a flowing orange robe with a rudraksha mala, hands clasped in front, appearing as a person sannyasi figure, with long swept-back hair. Behind the brass lamps and kalasha-style vessels, a deity murti is dressed in magenta and garlanded with marigolds and white flowers, with a gilded canopy above.2010-06-18A photograph of an indoor hall where a man in an orange robe with a long swept-back hairstyle, white vibhuti on the forehead and a rudraksha mala stands at a brass oil lamp, lighting it with a taper. Beside him a bearded man in an orange saffron robe holds a staff, and a man in a dark grey shirt and a man in a blue shirt with a red-and-gold shawl watch. A man in maroon robes with a gold-bordered dhoti and a long garland stands at right with his hands folded. Gold ornamental chairs and bamboo screens are behind them. Swamiji (probable): the man lighting the lamp has long swept-back hair, rudraksha mala and orange robes, consistent with the page.2014-10-12October 12 20142014-10-12A large brass ceremonial lamp with a bird-shaped finial stands on a tented stage decorated with marigold garlands and yellow drapery. A bald man in orange robes and an orange headcloth holds a small oil lamp to the lamp's flame, with a second bearded man in orange behind him and a bearded man in orange with a garland standing to the right. A man in a white shirt and dark trousers stands at the left with hands folded, and a man in an orange turban with an orange robe stands beside him. A framed gold-edged picture is visible behind them.2008-12-31A stage event where several people in saffron robes stand beside a tall brass oil lamp (deepa) decorated with a yellow flower garland and a small flame. On the left, a figure in an orange turban and long orange wrap stands near a shaved-headed monk in orange, and a man in an orange turban and rudraksha mala stands centrally in orange robes with a green-embroidered shawl. Beside the lamp, a man in white kurta holds a ritual vessel, and two men in white dress stand to the right, one in a brown embroidered waistcoat. Behind them are framed portraits and a white canopy with marigold garlands. Five or more people are visible, all standing; no clear identification of any individual is made.2008-12-30July 23 20092009-07-23A dim temple interior with brass oil lamps lit on tall stands in the foreground, flames glowing on several wicks. Garlands of yellow flowers hang along the ceiling. Two saffron-robed figures stand in the centre: one with a shaved head and orange cloth draped over the shoulder, another with long wavy dark hair, bangles on the wrist and a rudraksha mala, holding their hands together. A man in a pink shirt and a man in white dhoti stand behind them, with a uniformed attendant nearby.2012-01-07Indoor ashram hall where a man in a light blue kurta lights a brass oil lamp with a bird-shaped top, held in front of a seated elder in saffron robes with a rudraksha mala and a white tilak on his forehead. Around them, men in orange shirts, a saffron-clad sadhu holding a staff, and a man in white dhoti with pink shawl stand watching, while a bare-chested man in rust-red robes with gold trim stands at right with hands folded. In the centre, a man in an orange turban, orange robe and a red-and-pink flower garland lifts his hands toward a tall polished brass oil lamp with several lit wicks and a flower garland on its stem, a ritual aarti. Around him, devotees in white shirts crowd close, one with raised hands. On the right, a bare-chested priest in a white dhoti with a sacred thread stands beside a brass lamp. A grey-haired person in the foreground watches. The walls are dark stone with a flower-decorated niche.2009-11-30A photograph of a group of people standing in a dimly lit temple interior, shown in profile and three-quarter view, looking upward. On the left, men in white shirts and white dhotis stand close together; one holds a gold bangle on his wrist. In the centre a woman in a yellow sari with a purple border holds her hands together in prayer. On the right, a young man with long dark swept-back hair wears a loose orange-red sleeveless robe and smiles while his hands are clasped in front of him. Behind them a warm wall lamp glows. The figure in orange has distinctive long hair and orange robe, but the appearance alone is not enough to confirm a identity, so the role is given as a person in orange robes.2008-07-29
