Five performers sit on a red cloth-covered platform in front of dark maroon curtains and a white brick wall with a potted plant. Left, a man in orange kurta plays a tabla-style drum pair. Behind him, a woman in orange plays a long-necked stringed instrument (tanpura). In the centre, a man in a yellow kurta with a white shawl sings into a microphone, with a small harmonium-type instrument before him. Beside him, a woman in orange sits at a microphone. At far right, a grey-haired man in a yellow kurta sings or chants into a microphone beside a black Radel-branded instrument box. A white cup sits on the stage. The scene reads as a kirtan or satsang concert with music.2008-05-12Photo 11691224June 13 20142014-06-13Photograph of a classical Carnatic music performance on a stage. Two women sit cross-legged at microphone stands, singing. The woman on the left wears an orange and teal silk saree with a red bindi and gold jewellery; the woman on the right wears a teal saree with gold border and a gold necklace, gesturing with her raised hand while holding a paper. A third woman in the background wears a rust-coloured garment. At the far right a man in glasses and a maroon shirt plays a stringed instrument, and a child in a maroon outfit with beaded necklaces sits at the left edge. Water bottles and a sound equipment box sit on the stage cloth.2014-06-01
