A photograph of a wood fire burning inside a round pit with brick walls. Crisscrossed logs are stacked in a pyramid over bright orange and yellow flames rising into the dark. No people are visible in the frame. The sandy ground around the fire pit is lit warmly by the flames.

A photograph of a wood fire burning at night on a sandy ground in front of a brick wall. Logs are stacked in a crisscross pile with bright orange flames rising from the centre, and a few dark sticks lean in from the right edge. No people are visible in the frame.

A night-time outdoor fire ritual in a rectangular brick fire pit, with tall orange flames rising from the centre. A small brass vessel stands on the left rim of the pit. Behind the pit, two men in white clothing stand near a low white building with a window, and a ladder leans against its wall. The man on the right wears a light cream shirt and trousers with an identity badge on his chest and stands with his hands folded. Nearby, a figure in white is partly visible; no one is clearly identified as a person, so the presence of a person is uncertain. The scene suggests a homa or fire offering.

A photograph of a wood fire burning on a raised grid of stacked logs against a brick wall at night. Flames rise strongly from the centre of the pile, and glowing embers sit beneath the logs. No people, offerings or ritual objects are visible, so no ritual is identified and no one is shown.

A photo of a square brick-lined fire pit at night, with bright orange flames rising from wood logs and embers inside the pit. No people are visible. The dark surroundings make the glowing fire the main subject, consistent with a homa or yagna fire pit.

A photograph of a square fire pit with a large, bright orange flame rising from its opening in a dark setting. The pit has a stone or concrete rim, and a faint reflection of the flame shows on the inner brick-like wall. No people are visible, and the fire appears to be a ritual homa or yagna fire pit.

Close photograph of a brick-built homa fire pit with tall orange flames rising from a bed of burning wood and coconut-fibre offerings. A long brass or copper ladle held by an unseen hand pours or stirs ghee into the fire. A small dark metal bowl sits at the base of the altar, and dim walls surround the scene. No people are clearly visible apart from the hand holding the ladle.

A square brick fire pit blazes with tall orange flames at night, a homa or yagna fire. Logs burn inside the brick enclosure, and small offerings of rice or flower petals sit on the brick edges, with red petals visible at the corners. Behind it stands a large brass bowl with a ladle and a small metal vessel. No people are visible in the frame.
