September 03 20072007-09-03September 03 20072007-09-03A photograph of a ritual at an illuminated shrine at night. A figure in a long saffron-orange robe with a matching head wrap stands at left, holding a metal plate or vessel and pouring a white liquid, possibly milk or water, over a decorated arched niche. Inside the niche is a deity murti draped in garlands and ornaments. Colourful striped and dotted arches frame the shrine, with floral garlands hanging nearby. A white-clad assistant sits behind the figure, a brass oil lamp stands in the foreground, and a fire glows at lower left. Blue and red fabric canopies hang overhead. The figure appears to be performing abhishekam.2007-09-03A person in an orange-saffron two-piece garment bows forward at a stone shrine platform, hands resting on the stone edge, bare feet on a doormat. Behind the platform stands a deity murti with blue-skinned figures, garlands of orange and yellow marigolds, and a bare-chested stone image wrapped in cloth. Brass oil lamps, a brass kalasha-style vessel and a small lit flame sit on the platform. Red and white pillars and a red wall frame the open-air shrine at night.2011-12-10A photograph of an evening puja at a decorated shrine lit in blue and magenta light. A tall standing figure in a flowing orange-red robe and a light head covering holds a long rod or stick extended toward a colourful arched frame strung with pink, white and gold streamers, while a green-and-yellow cloth hangs before a deity murti decorated with garlands. In the foreground at left, a man in white clothes kneels beside a white cloth-covered object, with a small oil lamp burning and marigold flowers scattered on the floor. The ritual setting suggests darshan or puja, though the exact rite is not clearly visible.2007-09-03A photo of a night puja before an ornate deity murti decorated with silver ornaments, red and orange garments, and garlands beneath an arch of pink, green, yellow and red bead-like festoons. A figure in an orange-saffron robe, shoulders draped, stands at left holding a flame toward the murti, with smoke or incense haze rising. A brass vessel and a lamp stand sit in front, with marigold petals scattered on a white platform. A large banner behind shows a partial red number. The figure's face is not clearly visible and the appearance is not distinctive enough to confirm identity, so the role is a person performing puja.2007-09-03A night-time ritual photograph at an altar with a fire flame. A man in white shirt and white dhoti leans in from the left holding a lit lamp or torch toward the altar. Behind him a figure in orange-saffron robes stands holding a long staff, and another person in orange robes sits near a green-yellow draped canopy. A large painted or decorated backdrop shows a deity murti under a colourful arched frame of pink, yellow, green and blue with silver tinsel. Flowers in red and yellow garlands and trays of offerings lie on the white stone altar and the foreground table, with brass vessels and a lamp stand. The scene suggests an aarti or puja at a decorated temple shrine.2007-09-03September 03 20072007-09-03September 03 20072007-09-03Night photo of a temple ritual with a standing figure in saffron-orange robes and a matching orange head wrap, holding a long golden staff or pole extended toward an altar. Behind the figure, an arched frame of pink, white and yellow lights and tinsel surrounds a deity murti draped in a purple cloth, with garlands and small oil lamps along the platform. Blue-purple stage lighting fills the scene. Only one physical person is clearly visible; a partially visible figure appears at the far left edge, and a fire-glow of lamps lines the base.2007-09-03Night photograph of a colourful ceremonial shrine structure decorated with striped panels in red, blue, yellow and orange, with white dove motifs and floral patterns. Inside, a deity murti dressed in a sky-blue cloth is adorned with garlands of yellow and red marigolds, a gold crown and gold ornaments. A standing priest with a shaved head, wearing an orange robe and a gold chain, faces the shrine with his hand raised, making an offering or puja. A brass vessel with fruit and leaves sits in front, with another devotee partly visible at the edge.2010-11-19March 03 20112011-03-03 +1 copies
