A night ritual bathing of a white seated figure with yellow liquid. The white statue sits in a meditative pose with one hand raised in blessing, placed on a yellow-topped wooden stand. Beside it stands a copper-coloured deity murti of a female figure holding a lamp, next to a dark stone yoni-shaped basin. Other people in orange and red robes and rudraksha malas stand behind, with leaves and wet ground in the foreground.2008-01-03A photograph of an abhishekam at night in a stone temple. A person in an orange saffron garment pours milk from a large golden vessel over a tall white-coated Shiva lingam set on a stone base, the liquid splashing in the air. Behind them, a figure in white clothes with a red cord holds a golden pot. On the right, a bronze-coloured statue's hand and a white and red-bordered garment are visible. Carved stone pillars frame the scene.2007-10-25A photograph of an abhishekam at a stone shivalinga-style basin in a temple. A man in saffron-orange robes pours water from a brass kalasha over the stone, with water spilling down its sides. Behind him, another person in orange clothing and a gold chain stands near the basin holding a brass vessel with flowers and garlands. A small white stone figure and a copper-coloured standing deity murti stand on a raised platform at left, and yellow flower petals lie on the wet floor. A second robed figure at the right edge wears a green and red garment. The scene is wet and dim, with orange-red tones throughout.2008-01-03January 03 20082008-01-03A bearded man with long dark hair, wearing an orange-saffron robe and a rudraksha mala, pours yellow liquid from a gold pot over a copper-coloured standing deity murti, with splashes flying onto a white marble seated figure with raised hand and a black stone pedestal beneath. Two other men in orange robes stand behind him, one with palms pressed together in namaskar, and a gold pyramid-shaped object sits at left. The scene appears to be an abhishekam in a temple-like setting with a glossy wet floor. Swamiji (probable): the central pourer has long swept-back hair, a full beard, saffron clothing and a rudraksha mala, matching several appearance cues.2008-01-03January 03 20082008-01-03March 03 20112011-03-03 +1 copiesA photograph of an abhishekam ritual at an ashram. In the foreground a man in white dhoti with a rudraksha mala pours water from a brass vessel over a small golden deity murti standing on a red pedestal. Beside it a white marble seated figure sits on a wooden base, and a small golden kalasha-like stupa finial sits on another red pedestal. The stone floor is wet with water. Behind, two women in saris, one in red and one in white with pink trim, stand near brass pots and a striped red-and-white wall.2010-07-05January 03 20082008-01-03November 10 20112011-11-10 +1 copiesA standing man in orange saffron robes with long, swept-back curly hair and a red tilak on his forehead pours water from a brass kalasha onto a white marble seated deity murti. A gold-beaded mala hangs around his neck. Behind him, a second figure in orange also stands, and another orange-robed devotee sits in the left background. A brass-coloured small deity statue stands beside the white figure. The scene suggests an abhishekam in a dim temple hall.2010-02-12Photo 11715108 +2 copies
