Photograph of a ritual in a hall with yellow walls, red curtains and chandeliers. At centre, a woman in an orange sari with a flower garland holds a lit lamp over a purple-draped altar heaped with yellow and red marigold garlands and offerings. Around her, saffron-robed figures stand in a row, one holding a bowl of flowers and another a tray, while a figure in white dhoti and a shawl joins palms in namaste. A cameraman in white kneels at left filming, and a second cameraman stands at upper right. Behind the altar, a gilded throne with red cushions and a large deity display with garlands sit against the wall. A drummer in white and a few devotees in white and orange line the back of the room, and a square fire pit with ash stands on the floor. Wet petals scatter the wooden floor.2014-06-28 +1 copiesJune 28 20142014-06-28 +1 copiesJune 28 20142014-06-28June 28 20142014-06-28 +1 copiesA homa fire burns on a floor in a red-walled courtyard at night, with flames rising from wood and ghee offerings arranged around it, and a tray of flowers, fruit and sweets nearby. A man in white dhoti and shawl stands at a fire pit of brick and burning wood, holding a lit lamp or offering vessel above it while smoke rises. Behind him a gold-framed red velvet throne holds a framed portrait of a saffron-robed figure, and a red carpet runs toward it. Brass bowls of yellow and white offerings sit on the floor. On the right, a deity murti is decorated with red, orange and multicolour flower garlands, with a brass oil lamp in front. Seated devotees in white and yellow shawls with hands joined line the left side, and several figures in white stand near the throne. A saffron-clad person stands at the back right.2010-11-12Photo of a ritual inside a temple hall with a row of seated devotees behind a metal railing, many holding lit oil lamps. In the foreground, several men in saffron-orange robes sit cross-legged on a woven mat, one raising a lamp and another holding a small brass vessel. Brass plates with flower petals, lamps and offerings sit on the mat in front of them. A man in a saffron robe with a rudraksha mala sits at the centre, wearing a wristwatch, and gestures with his hand. Men in white dhotis with sacred threads and devotees in white and saffron stand and sit along the railing. A gold-carved ceremonial seat is visible at the lower right. The scene suggests an aarti or puja performed by sannyasi-clad priests.2010-10-30A photograph inside a small room decorated with orange cloth and a framed deity picture at upper left, where a seated man in orange robes and a long white and red flower garland receives ritual attention.
