2009 - Vadacheri Arni Center ActivitiesA street procession of many children in traditional costume walks down a paved village lane between pastel-painted houses. Front children wear golden crowns with round jewelled medallions, white dhotis, bare chests with beaded necklaces, and green or purple garlands; some carry small golden staffs. Women in colourful saris line the roadside, one in blue, another in red and yellow, watching the procession. No adult in the procession is clearly identifiable as a person; the scene shows children in a ceremonial parade.September 12 20122012-09-12Outdoor temple-festival procession on a red carpet before a multi-storey building, with bamboo and banana-leaf decorations. Beside him, a man in white dhoti and orange shawl holds a small object. Costumed performers with gold crowns and feathered headpieces, wearing pink and blue costumes and holding props, stand at left and right beside a wooden gate. A blue truck and parked white car sit in the background among devotees in orange and white.2008-02-18February 23 20152015-02-23November 16 20152015-11-16A dirt village lane lined with coconut palms during a procession. At centre, a figure in saffron-orange robes walks beneath a multicoloured parasol carried over a decorated palanquin or deity float. Around it, devotees in orange, yellow, white and pink clothes walk along, and several children in shorts and shirts, some with faces smeared with coloured powder, follow barefoot. A tripod-mounted camera stands at the left edge. A man in a red and green checked lungi and red shirt walks at right. The scene is a festival procession through a rural village.2010-10-17November 16 20152015-11-16 +1 copiesA street procession in a town marketplace with a uniformed police officer in khaki and a red-banded cap at right, walking near the procession. Several saffron-robed sannyasis walk in front, pressing palms together in greeting. The central figure has a full grey beard, wears rimless glasses, and has a gold-and-pendant necklace and rudraksha-style beads, in an orange robe. Beside him, a younger saffron-robed man in an orange turban wears a bead mala. Behind them, men and women in white and saffron walk with red and saffron flags and a fringed ceremonial umbrella overhead. A banner with a framed portrait is held aloft, and shopfronts line the street.2008-04-27A street procession in an Indian town, with a flower-decorated float or palanquin visible in the background behind the marchers. In the foreground, several men in saffron and orange sannyasi-style cloth walk together, some bare-shouldered with orange wraps. The man at right-centre has long dark swept-back hair, a dark tilak mark, and a gold ornamental necklace with a pendant over an orange garment, which is a distinctive cue, but his face and identity are not established here, so the figure is described by role as a sannyasi in procession. Behind them, men in white shirts and white dhotis walk among devotees along a street lined with multi-storey shops and signboards. Garlands and flower petals are visible.2005-11-14December 27 20132013-12-27October 17 20102010-10-17
